x51v VGA Web browsing? is there a clean solution?
All,
Ive read the VGA Demystified tread... used the *.mui file method to get Acrobat into hires.
Used SE VGA but it would give an error box (not text, just box) when its launched... Tried uninstall/reinstall 3 times same result.
Used Oz VGA, it works as advertised, but every time I use IE in hires and drop down the favorites to pick a new site I get an IE has encountered a problem, report to M$ error message... it continues ok but its unnerving.
Installed v3.2 of Netfront, but it soft resets the device when its run... figured I would try the *.mui method with it, but since I cant get it to run its a waste.
So is there a stable way of surfing the web in true VGA in Windows Mobile 5 on the 51v? IE looks beautiful onder Oz VGA but it doesnt seem very stable.
Anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Hi!
There is one solution, however its a bit troublesome. If you have your desktop computer running at home with a broadband connection, you can connect via Terminal Services Client and use the webbrowser of your desktop computer. You will get VGA (or almost, as scrolling-bars and stuff take some of the view, but I find it really good. Especially when browsing big sites, sites with Java or using netbanking. (Yes, I am confident about using netbanking with SSL encryption, even on non-secured, public hot spots)
Of course, we all want a good, true VGA webbrowser on our PDA, but if you haven't thought about this possibility, I would just point it out. What you don't get, is streaming and sound of course..

There's better ways to gamble with your money - like at casinos!!!

Why dont you just use the special ozVGA version which works flawlessly for every app. I think I have told this to about 10 people so far.

Which version is the "special" one? When I go to ozVGA and PIE, there is no keyboard and my "favorites" don't work.
I know you are probably tired of explaining but it would be appreciated.
Note: maybe next time I will do a search first.

thanks stv516!
It now mostly works and I love it.
My original mistake was that I moved the whole folder of dll's to the Windows folder without talking them out. Me very stupid.
Do I accept the few programs that don't work properly or are there work arounds?
Now all I need to do is sharpen my stylus because writing this in ozVGA with the letter recognizer is not easy.

Try NetFront v3.3. It's still a technical preview version, though (trial version will expire in 31 Dec 05). Default shows web page in VGA resolution. No other settings required.

Yes, this works and PIE looks fantastic in it. But I don't need everything else in real VGA. some of my programs don't even work (e.g. mapopolis).
Does anyone know of a way to get PIE into REAL vga?
