If you have used older Axims... Give me your opinion. Help me here.
I inhereit a Dell Axim X3 from my older brother, I used it for a while, and now the conector on the Axim where I plugged it to power the battery broke, don't have waranty, so I'm hooked, need my fix, and plan to buy another one.
To be honest, I mostly used my Pocket PC as an MP3 player. I know I can use it for other things, but they didn't appeal me at that time. But now that the things have advanced, I wanted to know if it will help me for the things that I need.
I hear a lot of music, I really loved the MP3 storing capabilities of the 1 GB SD card that I have. I could put 15 new albums one month, and the next month put 15 new albums. I dont store "favorite albums" on it, so it works perfectly. But the time it took to transfer the data from the computer to the Axim X3 was too long. Does the data transfer is still the same?
I hate writing things on the Pocket PC, and buying an external keyboard doesn't help with the portability of an already bulky thing. The dicctionaries for shorcut to longer words, can I edit them? For example... If instead of appearing school when I type 'sc', can I change it to scooby doo?
I'm a student, and do a lot of presentations, I saw that now you can buy the output for a projector. I just like the idea of doing my presentations on my desk, and then load them up in the PPC, and hook it up to a projector elsewhere. Yes, like a little presentations mule. But how good is the compability of PowerPoint for a PC to the Pocket Version of PowerPoint? Can I do them with animations, add any picture I like and it will display nicely? Or what are the limitations? Will it only display shitty presentations?
Do the sound recording programs improved? Can I have now the freedom to save them in the format I want? Did someone already did a program to change the voice to text for the Axim?
I wish for the day where I could run a pocket version of Flash to do small animations, integrating sounds that I recorded with the PPC, and send it to a friend cell phone or whoever via email. Can I do something like that, kind of creative, in the new Axims?
Can these things be done, or do I have a wrong idea of what a Pocket PC is? Or should I look to other developers of Pocket PCs?
