Hmm My first week with WM5 on X50v. Going back!

The good: Nice new look to the OS. Battery Plus Lite applet included on the "Getting Started CD." PowerPoint included. Persistent storage is nice.

The bad: ActiveSync has a mind of its own. Battery drains incredibly fast. AvantGo webpages display waaay to large. The navigation/GPS program I want to use is not compatible. What da heck is Flight Mode? It keeps turning on by itself.

The ugly: Bluetooth is now useless!

I got it, I tried it, I HATE IT! Back to 2003SE for me. I've waited this long (since July) so I can wait until Dell/M$ get all their $#!t in one sock and fix it.

For a second there I thought you were talking about your axim and not the os. I guess it helps to read huh? Some people have troubles with wm5. Some don't. It's a crap shoot.

Did you run through the WM5 tips thread? It helped me ten fold and I have been pretty happy for weeks.

For the original poster: I've been saying this over and over here because I think its important. Before you re-install and spend the time going through all of the fixes and hacks, know that they don't actually fix the problems you are experiencing. There are a lot of bugs in the ROM itself, and we're stuck waiting for Dell to fix that stuff.

If you want to spend the time, a lot of us here do, then try the fixes out and see what you think. They treat the symptoms of the bad ROM build and make its effects less noticable, and for a lot of us that is enough. But, like I said, it does not fix the major problems in the ROM.

It's disappointing to hear that WM5 still is not doing well. I really hate having the latest version CDs just sitting in a drawer, with realization that if I install them it's as likely to kill my beloved x50v as it is to help it.

Too bad the Pocket PC Mag folks, etc., don't seem to realize how widespread the problem really is.

Yeah, I totally agree! And what's the point of getting a brand new OS, dealing with all these hacks and it still doesn't work the way it's supposed to work... I'll pass for now.
