Moto Razr + VZW + Free Dialup = Free internet anywhere on axim!
Well guys, I recently got my Motorola RAZR from Verizon Wireless. IT is my first phone ever to have bluetooth. Its also got video and 1 MP camera. Its sick. And, it and my axim have something in common! Crippled Bluetooth, damn it.
Anyway, my anger I had from this screwed up bluetooth on my RAZR was soon gone when I connected to my axim and saw dialup networking profile. I went to google and searched Free dialup internet access and found lots of free little sites that provide it. Signed up, used a local access number, and was surfing!
I can use my axim and keep my phone in my pocket!

Interesting. Is it painfully slow (not that it matters too much when you consider the cost!)?

just have to count your minutes, but with free nights and weekends and no long distance, a fair amount of surfing to be had. post back on speed and continuity.

Please post what dial up service you are using?
You said you connected the phone to Axim? Do you mean you connected through bluetooth?
It would be helpful if you can explain in detail your setup, on how you are connecting to the internet through dial-up?
It would be great if we can surf on the Axim when combined with the phone.

Watch out.. some guys over @ howardforums.com have gotten burned by VZW for tethering their phones without having a data plan.

How is your setup? Who did you choose as your ISP? What state do you live in?

First off, you dont need T-Mobile. I am using MetConnect. MetConnect is NYC, and you can only use it (and have it be fast) in NYC. You can do this with any carrier, because it doesnt have to do with their network. All it is doing is making a call.
To connect, go to connections, add new connection, bluetooth, select your device, select dialup networking, enter phone number of ISP, enter your isp username and password and click finish.
Go on PIE and try to access a remote server. It will say Dialing XXX-XXX-XXXX through bluetooth. Go to your phone and answer yes when it asks "Would you like to bond with _____ _____"
Then it will start to dial and use your minutes only.
This is amazing, because I just keep my phone in my pocket, and its like my Axim has wireless capabilities!

Torqued, what they're talking about is using Verizon's built-in data service for tethering with #777 and that is what verizon has banned. Using a Verizon phone to connect with a dialup carrier outside of their network is acceptable.
