I tried the tape the foam solution and it's fine now... man what a nice idea.

I really can't apply for a dell replacement, nor would i want one. Since i purchased a new machine, can't stand to get a replacement that refurbished.

Thank again for the idea. Will update as to how it's working out. But so far no problem.

Infact my problem w/ the latch was every time i swaped the battery. I get that and actually i think i got used to it, but then i decided that wasn't right. So this trick seems to be working right now.

Good one...

I started having this problem on my X50v. Scotch tape solution worked beautifully.

So just 2 small pieces of tape (how thin?) fixes the problem?
Are the 2 tape pieces just applying pressure?

I have A12. I set alarms two nights, and following days the Axim thought the battery latch had been opened (it hadn't, and there's nothing wrong with battery or latch). It hasn't happened since, but I believe it's to do with Alarm app.

STI, so did you just stick some scotch tape in the location (locations?) that Fachman showed in his pics?

And mine has absolutely nothing to do with my alarms, since I can make it do it by very lightly tapping the cover in the right/wrong place.......

Thanks, Kevin, it seems your problem is definitely a straightforward one if you can physically make it happen... knowing me, I may have been imagining things about the alarm, but I think it happened !!

Pictures Photos .jpeg .bmp

These instructions are for axim x51v.
Here are some pictures for those wanting to see where the battery latch is. Note that there is a 'male' part of the plastic 'latch mechanism' which sticks *into* the 'female' part of the 'latch mechanism' - The female part is attached to a sensor. This can be verified for yourselves - just press the sensor with a pen, press the on button, and the pda will boot up. The pda does NOT respond to the depression of the plastic female latch sensor whilst in the process of booting (I think), BUT WILL respond to such a sensor depressing AFTER having booted. When the sensor is no longer pressed after booting, the pda switches off.
