Question Windows Media Player Mobile 10 DivX?

In anticipation of the arrival of my new X51v in the next week or so *drool*, I have begun to reformat a few DVD movies into 640x480 DivX format (thanks to the great tutorial!!).

Can anyone tell me if WMP mobile 10 supports DivX by default? If not - what are my options for playing DivX movies on my new axim?

Thanks in advance!

Tcpmp

I think it's best to do a search on 'TCPMP' (former 'beta player').
This is freeware (AND incredibly good), but there are other options as well.

No, don't think WMP has divx support. Best bet is to use TCPMP

WMP only plays WMA, WMV, MP3 and the Windows streaming format (forgot the actual name).

Can someone please tell me what FPS, bitrate and audi sampling levels to use for the x51v? I have alot of experiencing encoding for Series 60 but I am a bit out of my league here with the bigger screen and faster processor. I use a mac for encoding so the programmes mentioned are no use to me, I just need some starting values.

I've found the 624MHz XScale's can play the standard "TV episode" quality (i.e. 350M/44 minutes - i.e. ~1Mbit) with the CPU forced to 200MHz (provided you use TCPMP's Intel 2700G plugin - which does iDCT, motion comp and YUV in hardware). Although, in fast motion scenes it can jerk a bit at 200MHz - but for the greatly improved battery life it's worth it.

IMHO the ~1Mbit DivX stuff looks very decent on the Axim (remember the small screen tends to make compression artefacts less visible). As for the audio.. 128/192kbit MP3 @ 48kHz would be more than adequate.

I usually use WMV encoding and due to my limited budget I never encode above 320x240, 250kbps. This translates to ~40MB/30min, allowing me fit a whole season into a single 1GB SD. The quality is decent enough for me and I just cannot afford a larger capacity memory card.

Well I just use Orb. This way I can watch an unlimited amount of content wherever there is a connection of 56k or higher.
