With the 4.x version of ActiveSync Microsoft removed wireless synching at the request of corporate customers. I assume that meant both Wi-Fi and bluetooth. I'm sticking with 3.8 for my X30.

They only took out WiFi. BT works perfectly. You need to get AS4.1 though. it is on the microsoft site.

Actually, they only removed WiFi and LAN syncing. Bluetooth works fine.

Here are some instructions to get it to work:

Follow these steps on the PC only if you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later. Otherwise, you must use separately obtained Bluetooth software drivers, and use the instructions that come with that software to set up Bluetooth connections.

Setup a Bluetooth Connection on the PC

1. Disconnect the sync cable or remove the Axim from its cradle.
2. Open the Bluetooth Devices in the Control Panel on the PC.
3. On the Options tab, select Turn discovery on and Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer.
4. On the COM Ports tab, click Add.
5. Select Incoming (device initiates the connection) and click OK.
Picture (Metafile)Note the number of the COM port that was added. The COM port number must be no higher than 20.
6. Click OK to close the Bluetooth Devices Control Panel.

Setup ActiveSync to use the Bluetooth COM port on the PC

1. In ActiveSync on the PC, click File menu, click Connection Settings.
2. Select Allow connections to one of the following.
3. Choose the COM Port with the number you noted in the previous instructions to set up a Bluetooth COM port.
4. Click OK.

Create a Bluetooth Partnership with the PC and Axim

1. On the Axim, tap Start.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap the Connections tab.
4. Tap Bluetooth.
5. Place a check in the box next to "Turn on Bluetooth".
6. Tap the Devices tab.
7. Tap New Partnership. The Axim will search for available devices.
8. Select the PC that you want to connect to.
9. Tap Next.
10. If you want to use a passkey (recommended), enter an alphanumeric passkey between 1 and 16 characters. Otherwise leave the Passkey field blank.
11. Tap Next.
12. Enter the same passkey on the PC and click Next.
13. Click Finish on the PC.
14. On the Axim, there should be a checkmark in the box next to ActiveSync. Tap Finish on the Axim.
15. A new partnership shows on the Devices tab with the name of the PC.
16. Tap OK to close the Bluetooth Settings window.

Start a Bluetooth Connection on the Axim

1. In ActiveSync on the Axim, tap Menu.
2. Tap Connect via Bluetooth

Thanks for the tips!

One question though, how are you able to pair your x51 with any othe bluetooth device like a PC?

My bluetooth stack doesnt work at all and I thought that this is a general problem with any x51?

I upgraded to 4.1 and after that I had nothing but problems w/ sync-ing. I had to go back to 4.0 so I could sync regularly with the cradle.
