X50V WM5 help lock up hanging boot not

Anyone help me. I was trying to work my way through wm5 and after a week it won't reboot, hangs at .8 of the way through. Soft or hard reset, battery out and unit in cradle, etc.

I searched and read the posts and don't see any clear answer . I am likely out of warranty and didn't buy wm5 from dell, does anyone know how to get it running so I can use dells download to turn it back into a 2003 version unit?

This is killing me, looks like unit is locked up forever. I was hoping to kill the internal battery through parasitic drain, install the main battery and then try again. Major bummer.

Well, it's toast. Dell is sending a new unit out. Be real careful with this WM5 deal, it is not rebootable after one week of problems. requires a replacement unit. Now hope it isn't some abused used pos.
Oh by the way, I guess I was dumb enough to buy an extended warranty which I don't believe in but in this case it definately worked out.

I had the same problem two weeks ago with WM5 on my X50v (it stopped loading after about 55%) but dell replaced it within 2 days.

When you received your replacement unit, was it "refurbished"? Did you see any noticeable difference from new? REason i ask is I take good care of mine and I just don't want a screen that is already damaged from someone else.

The guy on the phone said it might be new.
