D-Pad action for PIE changed for WM5

I can't believe none of the threads I read prior to installing WM5 mentioned this little tidbit. It now appears that the D-Pad action for PIE has forsaken scrolling in favor of acting like the Tab key on a regular computer. In other words, it jumps to the next hyperlink or control on the page.

I use my Axim to browse while I lay in bed at night because it's easier to hold for long periods than my laptop. In fact, it's one of the uses I had in mind when I bought it.

My frustration with 2003se was that I couldn't browse one handed. I could scroll once I got to a site using the D-Pad and that was great. But I couldn't go back without clicking on the back button, and I couldn't cycle through the links to select them either. I kept thinking, "If only the D-Pad would let me scroll using up/down, and let me cycle through hyperlinks with the side/side." Okay, so in WM5 they solved my problem after a fashion by letting me press the Back soft key, but now scrolling is gone. Arghhhhh!

I poked around the registry and didn't see anything other than something called...I can't quite remember: 4-way navigation or something like that which was simply set to 1.

Does anyone know how to assign different D-Pad actions for PIE using the registry, or simply bring back scrolling on the D-Pad?

I do not know how to change PIE, but if it is any help, NetFront ($30) uses the D-Pad for scrolling.
It also adds a lot of other things that PIE doesn't do.

They have a beta of 3.3 that you can get right now to give a try.

I was equally surprised when I upgraded to WM 5.0 to learn that no one had mentioned the issue w/ changing how Up/Down on the D-Pad on the X50v works in the new OS. For me, it is a big deal and heck of a lot more annoying.

At first, I was open to the new method of the Up/Down keys moving between the different links both in PIE and Pocket Outlook. But the convenience of being able to select links w/o using the stylus was quickly overshadowed by the annoyance of not being able to scroll anywhere as fast on emails and webpages as I could in WM 2003SE. I like that Microsoft added selectable links, but they were on crack to take out scroll support.

I'd really like to know if anyone has found a way to force WM 5.0 to treat the Up/Down keys like WM 2003SE did. It's not an issue now since I downgraded back away from buggy WM 5.0. But I'd certainly like to not deal w/ this when I do upgrade again after they get all the probs sorted out.
