Cool 3G phone as headset and datagateway for Skype

OK maybe this is a silly idea, but it wouldn't hurt to ask:

- I'm going to buy a 3G (UMTS) phone soon
- Got an axim X51v
- Skype requires 15kbit/sec (lets say 25 for safety)
- Bluetooth is able to do about 720kbit/sec

The question:

Can I use my phone both for handling the 'internet data' i.e. connection to the skype servers, AND as the bluetooth audio device, to actually talk to people on? It would be a kinda cool setup, wouldn't you agree? Just pick up the phone and talk for free(ish) long distance!

I doubt it is currently possible with the limited Bluetooth stack on the X51v.
It doesn't have a profile for audio gateway.

Neat idea though.

Are you sure? I've looked around but couldn't find the actual new and not-improved bluetooth stack specifications. All I know is that the axim has to BE the audio gateway, and it doesn't need to have the 'headset' profile (i.e. it doesn't need to be the speaker/microphone for another device). Likewise, the phone needs to be the headset, and doesn't require the audio gateway profile.

Pretty sure. All I get when I connect my phone (only one of two will connect at all) all I see is Dial Up.
I have read in posts here that no audio profiles are supported.

And your phone is able to be the headset for (say) your regular PC? What phone do you have that works? Im buying my phone for its dial-up functions, it would -enter expletive at will- if it wouldn't be able to fly.
