Notification Error - Can not execute OdClientCE.exe

Which is fine, cause I don't want it to!!!!! But every time I power on my X50v WM5.0 device, I get this error... after waiting 10 to 15 seconds for the device to respond. I've looked through the registry searching for the exe, for odyssey and for "notification" but I can't seem to find where to tell the OS to stop looking for that exe! Please help, as waiting 10-15 seconds for my PPC to become usable makes it less that usable. Especially if I just want to jot something down real quick or update a list here and there.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Jonathan

Look in \Windows\StartUp for a link to OdClient and move it out of that folder. I don't recommend deleting it as you may want/need it at sometime. Just get it out of StartUp. Hope that helps.

Does the little ship icon show up on the bottom bar after it does finally boot up? if so all you have to do is open it and then exit from the program and it will not restart when you reboot again. that fixed most of my problems with WM5

Still not working...

The icon does not show up. I removed the shortcut from the Startup folder (and did a soft reset) and it still gives me that error every time I turn the device on.

Any other ideas?

P.S. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

After removing the icon out of the start up folder make sure you do a soft reset.

Download MemMaid and go to startup. OdClient should be there on memmaid(doing it through a file explorer wont do it) delete that, and you will be fine. no need to soft reset.

Icon3 Odyssey Client Error Fix

Jonathan,
All is not lost... I had the same problem.... look at this:

This happened to me… and a few other people… this should get you up and running again:

I called Dell and they told me to hard reset my Axim, which of course, I didn't want to do, but after a few days of fruitless effort, I tried the hard reset.

I reinstalled all my apps and everything to this day, is working without a hitch. OdClientCE.exe is part of Odyssey Client.
I don't use Odyssey Client anymore; I use Windows Mobile's built-in client to configure my wireless networking now.

So, I guess that you want to know how to configure your wireless networking without Odyssey Client... here's how:

Once you disable Odyssey Client (it's disabled by default, when your device ships from Dell or you do a hard reset), you can go to Start, Settings, Connections, Network Cards, and under the wireless tab you can configure wireless networking.

Note: Your wireless card must be enabled to see the wireless tab.

So now for the important bit... how to fix your problem, I would start by trying the following steps:

Warning: When you perform the hard reset, you will lose all of your data, installed programs and settings on your Axim.

Hard reset the Axim
Before syncing your Axim, uninstall and reinstall Activesync
Use Windows Mobile's built in client to configure your wireless networking
This step in optional, but a good idea, enjoy the fact that your Axim is up and running.

If you need any more help, feel free to IM me on Yahoo Messenger, the ID is aix59.

Hope this helps,

Noah
