Stuck at boot screen, about 95%...

Before I do the obvious and hard-reset, I thought I'd pass this one by the group.

My x50v (WM5) has been going downhill the last few days. Its been refusing to sync, locking up a lot, and yesterday I got the 'black horizontal lines across the screen' syndrome. Every time I've been able to recover with a soft-reset, but not today.

My Axim is sitting at the boot screen, with the progress bar at about 95%. Its been there for 2 hours now, I don't think its coming back. I've already tried a couple more soft-resets, a 'bluff' hard-reset (go for a hard reset then hit the 'mail' button to cancel). Is there anything else to try?

Maybe try repositioning the main battery

Tried that -- no luck.

Maybe in the Christmas spirit Dell will release our WM5 update today, and I can just re-flash! Of course, I'd probably be better off sitting on my roof with binoculars looking for a fat man in a sleigh.........

Agree:
Remove battery
Put battery in the battery area on the back of the cradle
Put the Axim on the cradle w/o battery
Let sit until the battery is fully charged
Put battery back in
Turn On

Nothing else but to get on the line to Dell support. Mine did that this week, next day I received a refurbished X50v by DHL.

Only one problem...the refurbished unit said charging but didn't charge. Now this unit is also toast. I'm getting on the phone right now to get another unit.

Sure wish I knew how some folks were getting X51v when they sent in their X50v for warranty.

I did one better. I didn't call Dell (since that would be a complete waste of time) and just did a hard-reset. Then, I ran the down-upgrade utility to go back to WM2003. My Axim is working again, and is actually useful instead of being a CS project.
