When I connected my v551 to my x51v I just assumed that my phone didn't support any profiles. I just connected to my friends x50v with ppc2003 and I will just say that it isn't the phone. I expected my axim to have support for bluetooth connection particularly to my phone. I feel like I paid full price for a crippled defective phone. Please Dell fix this product!!!!
I too am having problems connecting to my Motorola V710 Bluetooth phone with my Dell Axim X51V. My problem isn't quite the same as yours I don't think - I can't seem to partner with the phone. I enter my passcode (0000) and the Axim states that it is incorrect, I try again, and it takes me to a screen that should list the available services - the list is blank. I have also have an Axim X30 and it works great!
Thanks!
Peter
Peter - Try using "1234" on both the cell and axim instead of "0000" when you are pairing the two. I have a v600 and this worked for me.
Dell Guys,
Plz do something for Bluetooth profiles on x51v. x50 models carried the bluetooth technology and its usage to new height but this x51v simply sucks. With so many dreams, i bought this and thought of buying some hi-fi Bluetooth stereo headphones and to my phone nos from RAZR to Axim but all this is disablesd. I can't even use bluetooth headset to do voice chat on net. All this is terrible. Plz release a rom upgrade or software to fix this issue and help us to carry Dell Axim x51v to new heights.
just to add also my 2 cents...i have a x50v with wm2003se..wow the BT stack(Widcomm) if really wonderful...with lots of functionality and profiles. It can easily connect to my other BT acc and use it with my SonyEricson T610 with no problems. Then my friend got interested in x51v(he's a palm user),so after much debate,i managed to convince him to get a x51v....and *bamn*....i hit a brick on the bluetooth on the x51v..imagine how red face i was...the MS BlueTooth stack is a disgrace..can't even connect properly to my x50v and the worst part...i can't do much with it....come on DELL...i have invested in x50v..great product but x51v with wm5>>>FAULTY product...and don't get me started on WM5 on x50v...luckily i haven't upgraded...my WM5 upgrade cd is in my locker...:)
Considering BT and Wi-Fi were two compelling reasons I bought my X51v, I fully expected both to work properly. I feel the features were misrepresented to me. Heck, they may as well have painted a blue tooth on the case and claimed BT functionality...

I agree. My x51v has had all the software and hardware (battery latch) problems....I tried to get my money back but they sent me a refurbished machine instead....thing that bothers me is I've only made two payments toward the machine and now I am paying for a used one..... for a purchase I made 3 months ago? Doesn't a lemon law cover this?
Stupid suggestion: buy dell stock. complaining to investor relations has got to be a damn sight more effective than complaining to customer support. :) And one has to wonder what would happen if a couple of hundred disgruntled axim x5xV users showed up at the annual meeting in June asking some very pointed questions about poor bluetooth implementation in what are supposed to be "business" devices.
Adding my bit, I rolled bacl to 2003 because the Bt implementation was so dire on WM2005, Please give us the same quality as the earlier windows mobile!

That's my BIG concern too. I was extremely disappointed by the bluetooth after I upgraded my x50v to WM 5. The new bluetooth is absolutely the worst thing ever. I can't even connect my PDA to my bluetooth accessories properly anymore. I tried to complain about it via Dell customer support but those dummy agents don't even have a slightest clue about what I'm getting at. :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: The new bluetooth is not just a disgrace, it's MOST HORRIBLE thing that has happened throughout the history of PDA!!!!!!! :realmad: :realmad: They better fix this soon!!!
BTW, I think we really should send an organized complain concerning this.....

I have the same issue with my Motorola 710. I can create a connection but with the availability of a new outgoing port I am blocked from any further steps. Also, when I look at my motorola phone there are no services that show up.
Help....

I posted here yesterday about a bluetooth connection issue between my x51v and motorola v600 phone, and not being able to send texts with the axim but being able to connect to GPRS and access the internet perfectly fine. The gentleman I talked to at Dell told me that theres nothing he can do to make it work and it sounds like a software issue. He suggested calling motorola but admitted that it wont help. He also said that the problem was bizarre because my Axim has no problem connecting to the internet but cant use my v600 for bluetooth dialing or SMS (under bluetooth settings - com ports, the only available option is New Incoming Port... I cant make an outgoing connection because New Outgoing Port isnt even listed and he said it should be).
I asked about another ROM update to fix these problems and he said that A05 isnt coming any time soon. HOWEVER he did mention a software update for windows mobile 5.0 and said that this may help connectivity. This update is scheduled for release during the "end of january to mid february".
Before telling me to call motorola, he said that for these kinds of issues Dell refers customers to AximSite.com to search for answers. I told him I checked there already and nobody can resolve this issue, and he said that Dell has a few people who watch over the forums here. If those people notice a large quantity of Axim owners having the same problem, they will create a fix for it and release it rather quickly.
So long story short, if you are upset that Dell skimped on the MS bluetooth stack then voice your opionions here. Apparently this will speed up the updates and we all might finally be satisfied with our x51's bluetooth capabilities.

I doubt theres gonna be any help until either Dell releases a different ROM (a06 apparently doesnt fix any bluetooth issues), or Microsoft releases AKU 2.0 with a new bluetooth stack.
If i would have known that Dell provides customers with such a crappy bluetooth stack, I would have gone with HP instead. Stupid Dell... I hope they fix this soon.
WinXP has been here for years now and the resident microsoft bluetooth stack has no improvement and is still crap. How does Dell expect Microsoft to supply them a good bluetooth stack if MS couldn't even improve it for WinXP. Dell, just bring back the Broadcom stack.
