I wonder if someone should organize a Class action against Dell.
Clearly, many people purchased their X51's due to both Bluetooth and WiFi (I for one did).
I have a bluetooth headset that I got at time of X51v's purchase (3 months ago). Needless to say, I have not been able to use it.
So basically, I am paying for a device where a fuction is crippled. I think a legal action where Dell has to pay a fine back to the owners of X51's (or X50 users who purchased WM5) doesn't sound all that ridiculous. I think I should not be paying the money I paid, if my PDA doesn't do everything it was advertised to do.
Maybe if we win a class action, we can pool the money we get from dell, give it back to them, and then make them implement Widcomm stack...
I put up a big rant on the PC Magazine review of the x51v, regarding the deficiencies of the MS BT stack. If there are Dell support people who read these threads, then they should know by now that Dell has made a lot of people in one of their key demographics very, very angry with this bluetooth thing. I think a class action lawsuit would be appropriate. In addition we need to spread the word: don't buy the damn things untill this issue is resolved. Post comments on reviews, tell your friends, and write op-ed pieces to tech mags regarding the poor implimentation of bluetooth in WM 5. It affects some of the major functionality of the unit for a large percentage of its users.
I would, however much prefer to give Dell a couple of bucks for a real bluetooth stack and call it a day. I hate legal proceedings. These seem like the only options. I'm not holding my breath for Microsoft.

just to add also my 2 cents...i have a x50v with wm2003se..wow the BT stack(Widcomm) if really wonderful...with lots of functionality and profiles. It can easily connect to my other BT acc and use it with my SonyEricson T610 with no problems. Then my friend got interested in x51v(he's a palm user),so after much debate,i managed to convince him to get a x51v....and *bamn
I have a Sony Ericsson T610 as well, and I can't get it to do anything with the X51v. They seem to pair, but that's it. I also can't get the Axim to interact with my Bluetooth adapter for my PC (though the adapter and phone work together with no problems. I don't really have a great need for pairing the Axim with my desktop, but it would be really nice to use it with the phone.
Agreed. Why would Dell blame it on Microsoft when they are the ones who decided to put the crippled ms bluetooth stack on the x51s in the first place. They have only themselves to blame for opting to use an untested piece of crap. HP was smart enough to use the Broadcom stack with their WM5 devices, why couldn't Dell.
you have to call your carrier of your phone service and get the dial string code and enter it in the advance connection section is what I had to do. It seems there is no software in the bluetooth and they dont know what to do. You have to enter it manually from your phone carriers code for the pairing and connection.
Looks like Dell is not planning to fix the BT anytime soon and we are left with this cripple stack. If we can set up people to do some research about the X51s BT hardware, we might just have a chance to do something about it. XDA with WM5 users were able to make the widcomm stack work with their PDA's and I know X51 users tried this workaround and failed. I think the key is to reconfigure the Platformxxx.reg to point to the X51's bluetooth driver/card. Using platformxxx.reg without modifying it would be pointing to XDA bluetooth driver/card. It's just a thought and might not work but it's worth a try.

Count me in. I am willing to get involved in the class action suit....I am making time payments on an axim that does not function the way it was suppose to. I requested a refund but have not gotten a reponse other than the automatic reply that they have received my mail......

Addition who needs that kind of stuff any way huh?

T610 and X51V works fine for me with BT dial-up networking .
Really? I can't get it to do anything. I can get the two devices to recognize each other, but that's about it. What carrier do you have?
I also can't get the X51v to do anything with the Bluetooth adapter on my PC. Again, they recognize each other, but I can't look at files on the Axim or transfer any files, wheras my phone and PC work well together.
With each passing day and thread i read i begin to hate my x51v more and more.....The lack of a proper BT Stack and a buggy wm5....that makes users purchase about 200$ of third party software just to have decent apps running. PIE....what a joke....extended themes.....thats a whole other problem. Horrible battery life. This list could go forever....PDA's have been out for a long long time and as a new user to these devices i was expecting much more solid hardware/software. Is'nt this 2006v
