Question Adobe Acrobat & WM5

Does anyone know why Adobe Acrobat doesn't work on Windows Mobile 5.0 on my X50v?

what programs are you using to open up acrobat files? There are a number that can view acrobat files. What type of error messages if any come up?

I just use Adobe Acrobat. The splash screen comes up that shows all the DLL files it loads, but after that finishes, Acrobat just dissappears.

Adobe Pocket PC Reader Forums

Just finished browsing the forums at Adobe regarding their Pocket PC version of Adobe Reader for PDF files.

Apparently till now there are no available versions of the reader that are optimized for use on a WM5 or a VGA screen.

ClearVue PDF, their latest version claims to support WM5. If your keen just check out their website ClearVue PDF Link or Handango ClearVue PDF Handango Link for trial downloads.(Not pushing any product or Site. I just use Handango alot. :) )

Can anyone give feedback on how capable ClearVue PDF is? Or if anyone has managed to run Adobe Reader Pocket PC 2.0 on their Axims.(WM5 users)

Thanks.

All I can say is Adobe reader 2.0 works wonderfully on my X51V, Text is clear and crisp and much more readable than on my old IPAQ. I had no problem at all installing the software. Not sure why some are ......... If someone can tell me how to take a screenshot I'll post some just to show how nice the software works on a X51V

Once youve figured out how to show us a screenshot(Interested in knowing how to do this too btw),I for one will be dying to see how nice it looks :)

Im all for it. Its free and its an established PDF reader brand. :approve:

Thanks TC for the feedback :)

First attempt to upload screenshots

Had to set resolution of graphic files pretty low in order to upload pics. Looks a lot better in person

One of the first programs I downloaded was the free reader from the adobe website. Installation was flawless. The only problem I have is with the files that I am trying to view on my x51v. They are huge, full of graphics, and not optimized or designed for use with handheld devices.
But the Acrobat Reader works well. One hint for non-tagged files: Use explorer on the PC to drag and drop the file into a folder on the mobile device. Acrobat Reader will attempt to convert the document for better viewing your Axim.

Cheers

Adobe PDF for PPC works for WM5, but only to certain extend. It couldn't open big PDF (or complicated one?) and gives a "Fail to load form" error..

I'm having trouble with Clearvue PDF, it gives me messages about "invalid" PDF files when I know they are valid because I use them on my desktop all the time. I love the rest of the Clearvue suite (1024x768 output!!) but PDF is really pissing me off. I will try the Adobe one, and forego PDF presentation ability.

I had a similar problem. I hacked the registry and now acrobat read 2.0 works. I changed the entry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Reader\4.0\AdobeViewer\EULA

from 0 to 1. In other words, I accepted the license agreement. Please do not ask, why this worked, but it did. I hope this helps you further, too.

Greetings, Jan

Acrobat Reader works fine on my x51v. However, after upgrading from ROM A01 to A06 it could not be installed any longer... Anyone with similar problem?

I tried cleaning up folders and registry/resetting and re-installing from activesync and cab files/right after reset and under safe mode - no difference - it goes all the way up to the end, then deletes all the files and tells me install was unsuccessful.
The only way to install was to install on a different machine, and copy all the files and registry settings manually. Now it works fine, but the install mystery remains...
