I have an Axim x51v, ROM A01.
I use it alot, and i mean ALOT. PIM, MP3, Gaming, Applications, WiFi internetting and DVD watching occasionally. The only problem i have is, is that it doesn't always power up when pressing the powerbutton (after it has been off for a while).
Did this get fixed in any new Rom?
And another question:
What's the bug problem with bluetooth?

Got my X51v(From Dell) with the A01 ROM two days ago. Ive updated to A04 since I got it.
Ive not really seen any of the problems associated with the X51v, but then again I havent tested it to the limit.(Plus Im also applying all the workarounds/tweaks)
Im tossing in a 256MB SD card today and I will see how things go from there.(I will a put few MP3s and a videoclip in the card just to just test the capabilities and potential bug free status of my X51v). Will test the WiFi capability at some Hotspots after that as well.
And yes Im a little peeved at the inconsistency of Dell, whats with putting A05 on replacements and then not releasing a widely available A05 update for everyone?
Its either these poor A05 users are being used as guinea pigs or this is the actual final A05 update and it doesnt do anything to address the issues had with the X5(x)s running WM5 and they just havent released it for the general masses yet.Either way its a screwed up deal for all Dell customers who have been waiting patiently. I cant claim to be part of this frustrated mob yet, but I can see why plenty have lost patience with Dell.
Time will tell.

Won a 51v from eBay. Received it this week-a.01. According to the Dell website, it was shipped to the vendor I bought it from on November 28th. I upgraded to a.04. No problems yet, but I really haven't started using it heavily yet.

Nuts. I ordered mine at that time, too, so I guess I'll have A01, too. After reading here I'm afraid to take it out of the box.

Until someone posts a screen shot of there system showing A05, I'm not holding my breath. Are you sure this person isn't confused by the v50?

No proof of A05 release...
I am not convinced that A05 has been released. Therer is no visual proof and all this discussion is based on just one users claim of having A05.
I am sure there is something mistaken about all this and there is no A05 yet.
So, lets all hope the A05 release when it comes out will solve the Bluetooth and other major issues.

Ordered my X51 mid Dec. 28, received it today. It says ROM version A03. I've seen reference here to A01 and A04, never saw A03 so now I'm not sure whether to upgrade or not. I charged it and have been playing with it but haven't installed the CD on my PC or hooked the Axim up to the PC as of yet. I'm kinda procrastinating doing that because of all the stories here, but I think I'm going to finish this and go to my installation. I've got my fingers and toes crossed!

A00 and A01 are very common. A03 is out there too. No-one has seen an A02, and the post referenced in the chain is the first to claim A05.

I think all units will come with A01 unless you upgrade by yourself. Anyway, upgrading to A04 is easy for an "empty" WM5 OS, so you'd better upgrade it right away.

Now I have version A04. I upgraded that from Dell's site and ActiveSync from Microsoft's site. There was another upgrade for WM5 on the MS site that I did not do because I wasn't sure what it was and if it was for us Ax users or something else. Of course, now I go back there and can't find it so I'm not sure what it said. Anyway, right now the only annoying thing happening is Activesync keeps turning on my Ax and syncing it even though it's already been done. I know I read a fix somewhere for this but it's not that big a deal. I'm just going to disconnect my Ax from my computer and leave it connected to the power so it gets a good, full charge. So far, with the little bit I've done with it, I LOVE it! Of course, I'm coming from a Sony Clie that I have had since 2003. Axims rock!

Having received my X51 as a christmas gift I'm less stressed about what it can and can't do thankfully. Mine came with A03 ROM and having flashed it to A04 I can't honestly say anything as changed that I'm aware off.
I'm surprised someone hasn't extracted the Bluetooth stack from a HP device if its so good. Can't comment on it because I've not seen an HP in action.

I got mine Thursday (Dec. 28th). It came A01. I did the upgrade to A04 immediately. The only issue I seem to be having the WiFi. Sometimes it would connect, sometimes it wouldn't. I finally found that if I leave BT on, it seems to connect every time. I don't really know if that's true or if I was also doing something else wrong. But it's working now and I just now got BT Sync working.
My biggest problem of course seems to be battery life. I might have to break down and buy a bigger battery.

I certainly hope that Dell hasnt actually released a 'proper' A05 update. :) As some users claim to have already have it installed on their systems. It might say A05, but Ive a feeling it isnt the actual 'final' version. Or I hope it isnt.
That makes more sense to me because they havent released it widely yet, which logically would imply its still being worked on. (I really want this to be the case)
If this isnt the case however,it must be terrible knowing that A05 doesnt solve most issues/problems.
