Anyone have experience with syncing to Lotus Notes 6.5.1, instead of Outlook. I am currently using Outlook, but my company uses Lotus Notes for Email and other activities, and they are pushing us to use it solely. But I need some help syncing to my X50v.
What is the best program to synce with, Intellisync or Easysync (IBM)?
Will these program still synce my Word and Excel files?
Has done this change and if so any tips. My biggest worry doesnt' have anything to do with the PDA, but it is how to get all my contact (over 700) from Outlook into Lotus. I would love to be able, if I can synce to lotus, to have the Lotus contacts populated by the PDA on the first sync--that may be asking too much.
I have ax X30i and am using Easy Sync Pro to Sync Lotus notes with my PDA. I also sync to Outlook with my contacts & calendar.
Version 4.23 has the ability to have filters so you can limit what data is sync'd. Easy Sync Pro is a licensed product.
Intellisync will sync your calendar and tasks but will not sync your Lotus email. If your looking at syncing you email your best bet is Mnotes from Commontime. A little pricey but syncs seamlessly with Lotus Notes and looks the same on your PDA.
Ok--I am looking at CommonTime. From what I can see, it runs via ActiveSync. So does it still sync with Outlook as well???
Other question, if I change to mNotes, once I install, can I make it sync the contacts off my Axim to my Lotus contacts, which is as of now empty, to populate the Lotus without having to enter them all by hand.
If I remember correctly, mNotes WILL REMOVE ALL of your contacts during the PPC client installation process, I believe it also warns you before it does this.
I can't answer your question about Outlook, as I use Lotus both at work and home, so I have no use for it.

mNotes has clear guidance on how to do that first sync. If you get it, follow thoae directons EXACTLY or you'll have problems later on. I had a situation where I had to hard rest and restore my PDA, and I didn't follow the mNotes directions for that first sync. As a result, Notes set out invitations to all my meetings to all the invitees a second time. That was bad enough, but then Noes set out invitations to all of the attendees of all my meetings, even the ones in which I was NOT the chair! As a result, my boss got an invitation from me to HIS staff meeting...not good. I still get replies each month from invitees to some of his recurring meetings...
I have exactly the same problem and the system even sent mails to my customers, but I synced with OneBridge. So to me this looks like a notes issue.
Since I archive in outlook at home all entries older than 3 years, Notes sends out cancelation messages to all meeting participants.
So I stopped archiving, but I have too many entries and I need to delet some from time to time. Is there a possibility to only synchronize the meetings within the last 5 or 30 days?
Or how can I tell Notes not to send eMails to the participants, especially when I create the meeting on my PDA the PDA sends out the invitation by itelsf, so everybody gets the mails a second time from Notes.
Mnotes is the one of the greatest tools i ever used. (and still using)
It's even greater when installed on the notes server itself so you can replicate the device wihtout your desktop/laptop.
Otherwise, the local installation is ok.
Before I knew mnotes I used the outlook domino connector and synced my pda with outlook.
Hi all, new to the Axim and new to the site. I have enjoyed reading the many informational post and have gained a lot of knowledge from the site.
I am trying to sync my pda with 2 computers using commontime. My work computer I use Lotus notes and am not having any trouble with that, commontime works great. What I am having trouble with is syncing with my home computer. I just want to transfer files to and from but everytime I try I have to do a hard reset, so you can imagine the frustation.
Having spend many months evaluating sync tools with Lotus Notes, I've come up with a system which works far better in my opinion.
MNotes is the best you are going to get, but it's just not ActiveSync. It's quite limited in that you have to set up a sync frequency - unlike Outlook where changes are pretty much instantaneous.
Stepping back from getting Notes to sync. Have you considered continuing to use Outlook and connecting it into your Notes/Domino server? The advantage of this is that you can continue to use ActiveSync and you can enjoy instant syncronisation whenever a PIM change is made.
Both Microsoft and IBM/lotus make "Connector" products that allow Outlook to work with Domino. Best of all they are free. You can certainly download the IBM trial version from their website - it's just well hidden. Documentation is varied, but I survived with what I could find. Well worth reading though.
After several months of playing (and one partially trashed mail account - my fault) I have come down firmly in favour of the IBM version as it is more complete, less buggy, and seems to be better harmonised. This is my recommendation. Its called DAMO "Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook". I'd recommend getting the latest version (7.0.1), although I don't think it can be downloaded as a trial version yet. (It can be purchased or "found" elsewhere on the web)
Remember kids that backup is the name of the game here. Make sure you have saved versions of you data, to avoid data loss. You have been warned!
FYI. Push email for Lotus Notes is coming soon!

I too had the same dilemma as you (I also own an x50v), but then I heard about EasySync Pro. I installed version 4.2.3 and it works like a charm, including all contacts from Outlook into Notes, notes tasks, notes email, etc. I have not tried Excel files though.
For earlier versoins of EasySync i.e. 4.2.1 there is a patch to make it work on PPC2003. I have the attachment and can email it to you as it does not get uploaded here due to file size restrictions.
Hope this helps.
