Did I make a mistake????

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I purchased the Axim X51V, then today I discovered this board and did not realise all the problems with the units.
Should I still give it a try or just send it back.

I need it to be reliable in reading PDF files and emails while on the road.
I also use outlook express on my home PC, do I have to switch to outlook to use it with the X51V.

Thanks for your input....great site, just wish I found it 2 days ago.

Take care

Try it first.. There are plenty of happy owners here, it's just that they aren't as visible. Did you ever read a post of someone saying
'I've installed Solitaire on my PC and it worked first time?' Updates are coming to solve some problems with it and Dell have a pretty good record for supporting their hardware (X50 and X30 have each had more than 5 free updates)

Try it... see if it works for you, there's no need to panic. If you don't like it you can send it back later

install the Dell ROM update and enjoy it. I like ClearVue for PDF's. Yes, this site is great, lots of nice folks here compared to other message boards where they put each other down all day long. Let us know if you need any help and good luck.

Try it. see if you like it. If you have having too many problems return it within 15 or 30 days (I forget which one) I wish I found aximsite too before I originally purchased my x3i.

You didn't make a mistake. Remember, most people that are posting are having some sort of issue. If there Axim is working they are out in the world using it. For example, my first time at Aximsite was because of a ROM update gone wrong. I thought I bricked it and came here for help. Anyway, you'll love your new toy...errr... tool.

Once the WM5 gets going good.......I think this thing will smoke! Not to mention more and more apps are coming online w/WM5! But, I too would have looked another direction if I'd have found this site first...

Give it a try, it's a great PDA. If you switch from Outlook Express to Outlook you will not be able to go back to Outlook Express, Microsoft made it a one way trip, so back it up before you convert you calender to Outlook. Personally I prefer Outlook over Outlook Express.
Good Luck :approve:

I'm posting from my X51V. I think you'll love your new Ax, I love mine, haven't had it long, but love it. I have very few problems, a soft reset clears things up (knock on wood).

I use my Ax primarily for gps, appts. and contacts.

ENJOY YOUR AX.
