Retreiving Settings? I am putting my 51x on a new pc

How long should it take to retrieve setting, its taking forever. I just put the software on my new computer and the active sync keeps saying retrieving settings? thanks

Ive been having the same problem

Ive searched here for 'retrieving settings' and got many suggestions on how to solve this issue - alas nothing worked.
Did any1 with win2k actually resolve this issue?

I can explore the device but not sync.
I did http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...538#post919538
Followed instructions on the wm site on AS troubleshooting

Disengaged FW, AV , tried the Sygate rules, installed AS4.1, 4.0 and much much more, hell i was even standing on my head one time when trying to sync - all to no avail.

My old Ipaq works like a charm compared to this.........

All suggestions will be considered at this point.

Press Start, Connect to, Show all connections (On your PC). Remove the Dial Up networking entry for the Axim (Mine was Local Area Connection 4) it below in comment for the connection it will say something similar to "Windows Mobile-Based device". Then i docked my Axim in the Cradle again and a new DUN connection was created a voila it synced in vmware.

Please note that this was done in Vmware which is a "Virtual PC" so it might be that the way i got it to work will not work in a normal Windows XP Machine, but it is at least worth a try.

I wish you good luck!

I finally figured it out. I had sygate firewall on my computer and I took the program off and now I have no problems. I have had many problems like this in the past. So to be quite honest I was glad to see Sygate go.

So you had problems with Sygate even when disabled? And thus had to uninstal before it was working?

See the strange thing is, I can explore the device when Sygate is working, disabling sygate makes me unable to do so! (and it still wont sync)

Dell has just informed me that AS 4.0/4.1 is only supported under Win XP!
This conflicts with MS specifications for AS at the Windowsmobile site. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...-sysreq41.mspx

Where exactly is it Dell informs of this?

Any1 having succes with AS4.1 and a win2k box?
