Quickest way to toggle screen rotation?

Some of you folks talk of screen rotation as a common practice and that you do it with the switch of a button. For me, there was never lag switching from landscape to portrait or vice versa but I do it through settings > screens, etc. Is there a way to toggle quick switch?

It's quite simple :)

I just assigned switching into landscape and back to one of the buttons.
Try this - it works flawlessly.

I set button #4 to <*Rotate Screen*> (without the two *'s. It formats wrong here if I enter it the way it is, which is: LessThanSignRotateSpaceScreenGreaterThanSign)

That is so brilliant! Doh! I didnt really scroll up to find that option when I was remapping my home key to the today screen. However, there seems to be a lack of buttons. Right now I like the default configuration already.

I use the home bottun to rotate between portrait and landscape.

Got to 'Settings' , Buttons. Choose the button you want to use, then go down to where it says 2. Assign a program, pick Rotate Screen. Done

I picked the record button. I have never used that feature and it prevents me from accidently recording something that may incriminate me later!

Ditto! Though I want to use Notes sometimes, its not frequent enough for me to actually dedicate a precious button for it. Come to thing of it, I dont use calender, contacts or the home key much. The thing I dont really like about remapping key is that the icons dont match the thing you remap to. They should make LCD buttons or give you stickers like keyboard overlays.

I never use the voice recorder button, so that was sacrificed to screen rotate. How often do you record a voice memo? Also, any device button that shows up on the Start Menu is redundant. Perhaps place a rotate shortcut on the Start menu or sacrifice the hardware button for rotate. I also swapped out the Outlook button for Mapopolis.

The Home button is the one I mapped. Who ever uses the home button anyway?

I'm a newbie and was about to actually asked bout the screen rotate question =p

Anyway I miss the side jog dial of my Sony Clie which is very useful to me when I am reading on netfront, ebooks, isilo, etc etc... I feel more comfortable holding the axim in 1 hand protrait-wise instead of the landscape mode when I intend to do long reading....

Any idea how to do that? It doesn't work when i assign the <*scroll up*> and <*scroll down*> to the wireless (button6) and notes (button5)...

I remapped the buttons as follows:

Button 1: Start Menu
Button 2: Left Soft Button
Button 3: Right Soft Button
Button 4: Close
Record Button: Rotate Screen

This allows me to use the device one-handed for most operations. I keep all my most used programs in my Start Menu.

I wish the Axim had a custom start menu like my old Cassiopeia E200. 3x3 icons that you could make subfolders of. Easy to navigate. Dell's Home is very clunky. Unusable.

I use a program from vitto called button mapper which allows me to double my button usage. One program for clicking the button another for holding it. Helps a lot. My only complaint however is that it doesn't allow me to map a button for turning on or off wifi!
