why may i ask you want to revive the brick is it because it was a new one and the replacement refurbished? probably you had it bricked after the first 21 days from the order date. i hope someone would create a program for snatching the x51 rom as this is a must backup for this sensitive device i don't think the hps collapse so much

As I have a spare device I'd like to try any attempted restores on that rather than on the working device. The bricked device will be picked up by Dell eventually as I have been given a replacement so now is a good time to test the de-brick procedure.

Good news, I've got a valid French x51v Rom, it was kindly sent to me from an hacksim.com member, he got it from Dell. The files names are DiAd_K_A01_12220500FRA_HC.nb0 and DiAd_K_A01_12220500FRA_HC_nb0.crc. But I don't have the bootlader. So I guess it will only work on french device that is embedding a french bootloader.

Sounds interesting, I'll have a go to try to see if the os dump I have of the x51v will work with this new naming convention.

I tested the naming and it appears correct. I didn't flash however, because my Axim is not bricked. Just wanted to test the naming.

I have here an axim x51 in US version, and a French one. exactly the same models.
I want to flash the US one and turn it into French.

I edited the img file from dell to bypass the language test of the AximUpdate.exe.
The update seemed ok, but it stayed in English.

Now I did a rom image using testdump.exe. I tried this method : http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=112267, using the naming : DiAd_K_A01_12220500FRA_HC.nb0
DiAd_K_A01_12220500FRA_HC_nb0.crc
did not work...

i don't mind killing the US axim. If anyone can send me the nb0 and crc files related to a X51 French version, i'll try them right away...

Bad news : it did not work on the US X51 I have... sku error...

Any clue anyone ?

Do you know anyone that could edit the dump.bin and extract the nb0 and crc datas ? : as I have one US and one French model of Axim X51 (not V), may be it could be of some use ?

Hi guys, im new to this axim scene, but i have had MANY problems with my axim x51v biggest one is my bluetooth phone and gps recievers dont work !!!!!!! i tried A06 rom but that didnt fix anything, i spent alot on this software and i cant return the pda now, im wondering who can help me put WM2003SE on my axim x51V (i know caching sucks and all) BUT I DONT CARE.. anyone who can help me get rid of this mobile 5.0 and put WM2003 im offering money for who can help me, i know its not the safest thing to do, but i really have no choice and i wil take all the risks thanks

STILL not possible.

The X51 doesn't have a backup battery. Also, little hardware differences (such as a different type of Flash memory) would prevent you from using an x50v image of WM2003SE.

Oh, and it's illegal. That too.

It was vert frustrating but it you lock you pocket PC then hold down the sound recorder and power button then press reset the diag menu will every time for me. The trick seems to be a simultanius pressing of the 2 buttons.

Here is my take on the upgared to mobile 5 is body can help me it would be appricated.

Copies the images to the Sd Card - SDcard became corrupt very difficult to re format

Renamed the boot files

press the key combination.

afterword the Pocket rebooted and the screen went back. nothing.dead

after readin on furms for an hours used sound recorder, power and reset to get into diag menu

then did the wireless, power reset to get into update Rom mode.

after about a hour or so it seemed. Mobile 5 came up but screen alignment was slow (not good)

After get it started speed it not there - I understand there may a process or a regitry setting to change to help this

I am seriously considering going back to 2003 if I can't find a way to speed my Pocket PC up.

Any suggestions?

no, it's not possible. the axim has a complete different hardware design than a normal PC.

hello I tried to flash my Axim x50 from the English WM05 to the german one , with the SD LOADEr hi was finding the data flash it and than he tolls me make a hard reset by pressing Power and reset , so i was pressing the buttons and now , he makes nothing no turning on , nothing the only think he is doing is recharing the battery thats all , Got enyone a solution for this ? Or can I trash him away ? Thanks for Answers

I have absolutely the same problem. I have successfully flashed the WM5 bootloader but now my Axim does not turn at all and I cannot get to the SD loader or the diagnostic tool at all. And DELL service is not an option for me as in my country there isn't any service center that can handle Axim handhelds. Does any one know any way to revive a dead axim with say a COM cable?
