domme,
do you by chance have an x50v wm2k3 A04 rom image? I'd really like to downgrade and I can't get my hands on a RIS for a standard restore process. thx

Because Rapidshare.de sucks . . .

And also because I want to keep these files and I have extra bandwidth,

I have placed them on my webspace for sharing.

Please don't abuse my bandwidth, or I'll take the files offline :approve:

I can't seem to get it to work. Seems to boot from sd card, but then after I reset again (Power/Wireless/Reset) it just comes back to previous OS

WM50_k files are not being recognized by my device. I used the DiMa_boot files with the WM50_k, yet my system just keeps re-installing the DiMa boot and never picks up the WM50_k install. Perhaps the WM5 files no longer work? Luckily I have the WM5 upgrade CD I bought off of ebay.

Will this work for me to reload my french X51v to change it to english without frying the thing? If so, what exact files do I need. I have a A06 X51v english that was purchased at the same time. Does it's disk have all the correct files?

The first time I tried this it said it could not find an image. It might of been because I had all of the image files on the sd card instead of just the 1 image file and it's .crc file. OR maybe it was because I had other files on my sd card or because I ran defragementer on it after I formatted and copied the files onto it. I just thought I'd post this in case anyone else did the same thing as me. pEaCe

Has anyone tried to find out if there are anymore hidden tools on these damned things? (like the sd image loader) things that require key combos to unlock and so on? Id sure love to see a list of them and what they do, and if that one could possibly cause damage..... (i know this probably doesnt belong here, but its pretty relevant)

Worried Will the real WM5 ROM Please Stand Up?!!

Even after reading all the posts in this thread I still (sorry) do not understand where or how to get a proper .nb0 image file. I found this one under the Dell folder on my C drive, apparently created when I downloaded a WM2003 update from Dell last fall:
AximX50v_A05EN.IMG, size 34,817K

In this thread I was sent to a site called RapidShare where I was able to download a file - apparently posted by Domme - that is named: AximX50v_WM5_A01_EN.rar, size 25,542K. What does the .rar extension mean? If it is ready to use, why is it not named .nb0? (Aside: The RapidShare site would not let me download again, or more, w/o paying money. Apprently it is possible to attach files to posts here. Why not do that instead of sending users to a pay site?)

On my WM5 Upgrade Disk there is a filed called
AximX50v_WM5_A01EN.IMG, size 41,473K

Why the different names? Why the different sizes? Why do these files not bear the name Domme tells us to use in his original post, if the names he tells us to use are the necessary names? Why don't they have a K or B or whatever already in the name?

Don't get me wrong. I believe the info here will eventually help me recover my currently stalled Dell x50v that I upgraded from 2003 to WM5 three months ago. But, the directions still assume too much prior knowledge/familiarity on the part of the reader.

Will Domme, or someone he delegates, please revise, update & clarify the original post, taking into account the questions found in the 200+ add-on comments, so every person who has this problem does not have to wade through all the add-ons? I will volunteer to help in any way I can, maybe by offer suggestions to the new editor about what is still unclear? If it can be written so that I can understand it, anyone can, & I can't understand it yet. I'm not an idiot (or so my friends tell me), nor am I new to computers, but I would find the directions more helpful if they were just a tad more precise and specific about critical issues like this. I find the answers to be tantalizingly, frustratingly just at the edge of my fingertips but out of reach.

Thanks to everyone for your effort & help.
Mike

Heart

Can someone please tell me where I can download the
WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0 and
WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG_nb0.crc files please.

I downloaded what I thought was the .nb0 file from the RapidShare site but that was the WM50_B_... file.

If anyone can send me these files thru email that would be great too
