Can you get to SD image loader screen by press and hold power + wireless then tap reset twice quickly. Keep holding power + wireless until you see the loader.

Also check the battery door lock and the lock switch by the wireless button.
Thank you so much. I had no idea the battery door lock had any affect. I checked that and I seem to be back in business. At least it is looking that way.

Thank you so much.:)

Actually its the battery door itself that presses on a little switch. If the door is loose or not on, Axim will not turn on.

Let me add my HUGE thanks :approve: to those who contributed to this thread. My Axim X50V was a brick after applying the WM5 upgrade (successful) and then the new Dell patch for WM5 (left the Axim a brick).

The bootloader and tips here worked like a charm. I'm now back on old dependable WM2003. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I bricked my X50V and Survived

:realmad: I bricked my X50V upgrading from 2003 to WM5.
The program I was using flashed the A01 properly from 2003 but when I flashed the A02, the A02 upgrade was to be used with 2003 "bios". Oops! brick.

I used the info in this thread and Voila! WM5 A02 is now installed.

Several pointers:
When booting to SD, hold down the wireless and power and double click the reset, keep holding down wireless and power and it will start.

Use two (2) SD cards, one for the boot and one for the program. I got a crc error message with both on one card. Ignore the reset/power instructions after the boot, replace the SD card with the two image files and do the wireless/power and double reset, keeping the wireless and power pressed.

It takes awhile to load the image (program) file. Be patient, go watch some TV or read a book. When it is all done the program will tell you.

Long time fan of 2003, in my brief exposure to WM5, like the crispness of the displays and only had to reset twice last night. Working fine with all the new programs.

Thanks for all the help on this important topic.:)

Aximsitemobileicon Current ROM image links?

Is there a current link to the rom images that isn't currently dead. I killed my x50v trying to upgrade to WM5 A02. I can find an image for A02 to use with the SD card loader, but not for WM2003SE to use to deowngrade again.

Thanks

AximX50v_WM2k3_A05_EN.rar
http://www.sendmefile.com/00494573

AximX50_WM2k3_A05_EN.rar
http://www.sendmefile.com/00494572
Code:
To downgrade from WM5 to WM2003,
1. Format SD card to FAT32 or it won't work
2. Unrar 4 files to root of SD Card
3. Rename two files on SD Card that start with DiMa_B_XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.XXX to WM50_B_XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.XXX this
is so you can load WM2003 Bootloader.
4. Insert SD Card
5. Press and Hold Power and Wireless buttons
6. And Press the Reset button 2 times
Once in SD Image loader you will only be able to select the WM50_B_XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.XXX
First file is very quick. When it say to do a Hard Reset, follow Step 5 and 6 to Flash the second DiMa_K_XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.XXX
Second file takes about 15 mins. When its done, do a Hard Reset. On first start, you Axim will be slow.
Read somewhere its formating your memory thats why is slow during screen alignment. I recommend leave it running for 5 to 10 mins after,
first boot then start Setting it up.
Oh at first I did not like WM5 A02 on X50v because of filesys.exe using up all the cpu cycles, downgraded to WM2003. I did not find WM2003 any faster plus it has screen corruption when you viewing long pages using Opera Mobile. Now I am back to WM5, NO SCREEN corruption and after letting the compaction run for 10 or so mins after installing everything, I don't see anymore lag caused by filesys.exe. So far I am pretty happy with WM50.

I checked, work for me. No one able to download them?

You click on the link then click Download file, wait 15secs for the link to appear, then click on the Globe that shows up.

Action Key Clarification

A dumb question please.

It got me a little worried when it says DANGER: You state that after the Image loader will only display the bootloader image to press the action key twice. I want to make sure what you mean by the action key. I have an AXIM x50v.

Thanks,
Mike

This is the silver button at the center bottom of your axim under the X50v logo. When the bootloader starts the it will display a file (first one is WM50_B_..XXX, second one is DiMa_K_..XXX). Push the button once to select the file and again to confirm.
