As far as WM5 to WM2003, you can find that at dell's support site. As far as WM2003 to WM5 ver.A02, you need to make the jump in steps. First you need to find your upgrade cd or buy one (ebay is a good
place to look or maybe the aximsite classifides) and do the update. Go to the control panel and (under connections) uncheck the box in the "USB to PC section". Then, based on the model of your axim, download the appropriate A02 update from dell's support site and apply the update. As far as you X50v owners wanting to apply the A03 rom, there are threads about this on aximsite (just do a search).

Can someone please post or email me the WM5 image for the X50 (NOT x50v)

I am trying to fix an axim for a friend, but after loading the WM2k3 image on it, it hangs on the blue Dell logo screen, before the loading bar even comes up... I am assuming it is happening because he had WM5 on there originally.

If ANYONE has the WM5 image for the X50, I would be VERY gratefull if they could post it or send it to me!

Thanks in advance.

(PM me for email addy if someone will be kind enough to email it to me)

Also, am I right in assuming you cannot load the x50v WM5 image on the x50?

Wireless+Power+Reset specifics

The instructions up above for entering the SD Image Loader Utility were not very specific...they said just press wireless+power+reset....

well to be more specific, follow these steps:

1. hold down power+wireless
2. press and release reset (while still holding power+wireless)
3. continue to hold down power+wireless
4. after a few seconds, the white loader screen appears.

it all worked for me....goodbye wm5...

Oh man oh man.....what the hell happened?

I reflashed it to the A01 in the Rom files......decided 2003SE would be better......rolled back to it with Dell's util.....

it sucked.....totally slow and buggy and useless.....

fed up, I tried using the SD flasher to go back to WM5....

flashed the bootloader file just fine....says "successful"....and then.....perform a hard-reset...

and then........nothing... The Axim won't boot, won't reset, won't turn on, won't respond in ANY WAY

anyone have any clue what happened? I used the right files and everything? how could this happen.......

I think i'm doing something wrong, I gert the checksum error like it sasys in the tutorail; "RAM checksum:0xF952736B CRC checksum:0x 4Vx A" Ive put these in the hexeditor in the right hand field (whis is the only place it'll take it) and it still doesn't work when i opened the crc back up it had erased half the info and put in "...." aka 00 00 00 00. also the value changed when I ran the image update again it read 0x 4Vx. with out the A??? thanks!

What happened is you flashed the bootloader file, but you didn't (I think) flash the right os image. The reason you get the white screen is because your bootloader image and your os image are not compatible with each other. The remedy for this depends on your axim model. If you have all the nessesary files as you claim, try to open the sd image loader and flash the WM5 os image (since you flashed the WM5 bootloader image). If this doesn't work, let me know and I will try to give you some more solutions.

Alright, well I'll try to be a bit clearer on what happened.

So first, I got the 80%freeze thing... (WM5 A02)

then, I used the SD flasher to reflash it to WM5 A01

it was fine.

Then I had the bright idea to just go back to WM2003SE....

So I used the Dell rollback utility....

When it was back in 2003SE, it was really sluggish and buggy....froze a couple of times.

So I thought, well, screw this then.....and wanted to go back to WM5

So then I followed the original tutorial's guide to go from 2003 to WM5...

first, I renamed the wm5 bootloader to DiMa...etc....

then I used the sd flasher to load that one......

it told me it was successful and to hard reset.

So I hard reset......but then......nothing.

It won't respond to a hard reset, it won't respond to a soft reset, it won't respond to an SD Loader button combo, .......nothing....not on battery, not on the cradle...nada

basically, it is completely unresponsive no matter what I do. So I can't even seem to get into the SD Loader to try again.....

So, at this point, is there ANYTHING I can do?

thanks for your help

Same history here. I was with WM2003, I changed my bootloader sucesfully (I made a hard reset and RIP). No diagnostic mode, no SD loader button, nothing, with/out battery, plugged or not, cradle or not.... nothing.

What was wrong... I know I should have launched the SD Loader function instead of a hard reset (The tutorial I followed it was wrong) after the bootloader change... but, is that the reason it ?

I answer mysef.... I GOT IT!!!!!
It works perfectly (with or without cradle), the thing is press the reset button just for 0,25 seconds, press down and up. If you push the reset button during 1 or more seconds, it doesn´t work. It won´t load the SD Loader or enter in diagnostic mode.

I hope this helps other users.

Greetings

Wait....what? what do you mean? just the reset button for a shorter period of time???? a hard reset or just a normal reset? I tried it and it won't do anything......

I mean a WIRELESS + POWER BUTTON PRESSED, and while you keep with them pressed, then you push the reset button, but just a quick click and then release it while you still have pressed the WIRELESS + POWER BUTTON.

If you keep the reset button pressed during 1 or more seconds it won´t work.

That worked for me even without the cradle.. :approve:
