It is a 512MB SD Card and was blank (apart from the 2577 directory) and FAT32 formatted. I've tried it again this morning (after downloading and using the SpriteBackup WM5 Beta - which also worked a treat!) after a hard reset and using Tre to change the registry and psShutXP to restart. Still no joy. Sorry but I don't think Grab_It works with the X51v.

Can you try it again without restarting?
Please change the Registry Value to "Storage Card" and then remove your SD-Card and reinsert it, after that go to the file manager, there should be a directory called Storage Card now, launch the grabit from there and wait for the process to complete, which is indicated by a short beep. worked at least on my X50v...

You can try settin gyour project not to use precompiled headers. Please take a look at project settings -> c/c++ .

Have fun testing your mod, at least it starts up and seems to be usable... ;-)
Still running the patched filesys and so far I have not seen the kind of sluggish speeds we used to get. Also, I have not noticed the battery getting hot.

Has anyone else tried my mod? It may be wishful thinking, but I think this is an improvement.

Thanks. I managed to get an exe but the first dump was 102MB and the second was 4.5MB. Something funny going on. At least this test version (not the one posted - don't want to confuse anyone) runs without having to do any messing about in the registry or resetting.

Edit: I dont suppose you'd be able to do a test compile as I think it's probably something I've done wrong at this end. First time I've used eVC4.

OK, just for you. Unfortunately still no luck. No error messages this time, but the dump file still only rar's up to 134KB.

Could it be anything to do with the X51v having 256MB flash rom? (Not just the 128MB of the X50v)

Why don't you hex edit the original dump utility? That's what I did. Scroll down until you find where it says "Storage Card\filename" and Change it to "SD Card\filename". This is unicode, so every other byte is a null. Then again, I'm on an x50v, so maybe you are right about something being different on the 51.

Here is how you do it:
1) download the X50V WM5 A01 image posted earlier in this thread
2) use a hex editor to open the WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG.nb0 file and search for the following hex string: 00 00 A0 E3 C9 0A 00 EB
You should find it at file offset 2B60BC.
3) change the first two 00 bytes to FF bytes. When you are done the block of memory will be FF FF A0 E3 C9 0A 00 EB
4) notepad the WM50_K_A01_X50v_WM5_ENG_nb0.crc file and change the contents to c5473116. Make sure you don't hit ENTER at the end. The file should be exactly 8 bytes when you save it.
5) put the two files above on a SD card that has been formatted FAT32.
6) follow the instructions above for booting into the "SD update" mode and flash the modified image

Edit: I recommend you already have WM5 installed before you do this. Switching from WM2003 to WM5 involves changing the boot loader, which is risky. Use your original Dell WM5 upgrade CD to go to "regular" WM5 first, then apply the patch.

Good luck! Please post your results if you try this.

My Axim is stuck at 80% and has not been able to complete the boot-up. I have read this forum and tried to re-image my axim, but it has not worked. This is what I am doing... take SD card and download the following files
WM50_B_A05_X50v_WM2k3_ENG_nb0.crc
WM50_B_A05_X50v_WM2k3_ENG.nb0
DiMa_K_A05_X50v_WM2k3_ENG.nbo.crc

I want to go from WM5 to 2k3.

I then follow directions but all it does is do a hard reset and then start to reboot if I press the keys on the display. I have not seen a dialogue box as described.

Questions:
Should I be going from WM5 to 2k3
Has anyone else ran into problems. I have tried just flashing WM5 and that did not work either.
Hope someone can help
