Calendar Synch with Notes

This is my last Dell Purchase. They screwed my on the specs on the 2005FPW monitor and lied about it (does not do PBP or PIP with DVI and VGA) .... now this.

I have never been able to synch my calendar events for any that have text. Mail, notes, etc work ... but I need my calendar entries. There is more than dates in there (conf call #s, attachments, etc). This took forever to figure out why some synched and others did not. Plus I also have the frequent ActiveSynch Failures and requiring Soft Resets.

Right when I acknowledged this Dell said it was a know problem and would have a fix at the end of October. I keep on trying to contact them wasting many hours and no result. Last time I called, after loading A06 .. I was told I would now need to call a Pay per service phone number. And if I paid, they could help me. WHAT !!!!!!!!
I finally asked for a refund and was told that I was outside the window and that there was nothing that they could do. I get strung along all this time and left with this. So ... this is my last Dell product.

I have Windows XP on my corporate machine, with Outlook. Pretty straightforward, and worked like a charm with my Axim X50v. This device has been a nightmare with the same set up.

Anyone have any ideas ? Looks like I am stuck with this thing ... I really do not use it now since it is not worth loading up any apps or configuration since they get wiped with the numberous hard resets.
I have tried almost every suggestion I could find (Detect and Repair, uninstall and remove all ActiveSynch references from registry, etc).

I am beyond frustrated here .....

1. With which device are you having problems? You said it "worked like a charm with my Axim X50v." Did you get an x51v?

2. Can we assume that the "Notes" in the thread title refer to notes on your Outlook calendar entries and not Lotus Notes?

3. Which version of ActiveSync are you using?

4. Make sure the calendar option is checked in ActiveSync.

It is an x51v .. correct.

And yes, but notes I mean anything other than a simple meeting notice with title.

I am using the latest 4.1 version of Activesynch. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Also did the same with Outlook.

Calendar option is checked (some do synch - the simple ones) ....

I tried to recreate the problem you were talking about, but it worked for me. I tried entering an appointment on my Axim with a note on the notes tab and this successfully synced with Outlook. On the other side of things, I could enter a note on Outlook and have it sync with the Axim. There is no notes tab on Outlook as such - it just appears at the bottom of the entry. I am using Outlook 2003.

Corporate machine? Is there a firewall involved?

I had the same problem with my X50v - it was because I was using the 'Switcher Bar' app. Once I stopped running switcher bar and started using Magic Button instead, all was well with the world again! Hope that does it?

Yes, this is a corporate machine, and all Firewalls should be disabled. I would think that it should be disabled locally on the machine if the entries synch at all ? Is there a way to see if any ports are blocked using a test tool ?
Also, I am not using the switcher bar.
