I would have expected people who didn't pay for WM5 to be the vast majority of people who rolled back. You know, the fact that you paid money for it you want to make it work.
I suppose instead those who paid money for it were more apt to be picky about the software working properly, or it gets returned for your money back. Is that it?

So Until Dell provide an update (and I really don't think they will) I will stick with WM2003Se.
Edit: And I paid for this cd..
I paid for mine too but never installed it. So many people are saying that Dell won't update it, is this really true? If that's the case i'll send this garbage back and try to get a refund.
I find it hard to believe that Dell would sell me a non functioning software and provide zero updates. I'm a programmer for a software company, if we sold software with bugs and provided zero updates, we'd be broke and out of business. How is it possible that Dell can get away with this?
Tried WM5 for 4 weeks......hated it....hated it....hated it.....went back to 2003se and all is right with the world. I will not upgrade my X50v to wm5. I am looking at purchasing the Acer n300 VGA instead.

I'm in the same boat. I was really disenchanted with WM5 until I tried those registry hacks. Now my system just screams along, much faster than WM2003. No crashes at all. Soft resets are faster, wireless connection comes up faster and is more stable (under WM2003 I'd lose connection for no reason), browsing is significantly faster.
There are only 2 things that really bug me about WM5. First, out of 64MB RAM, only 30MB is available for use. Second, playing audiobooks in WM2003 was great because WMP would remember where I left off when I turned off the PDA. WM5 forgets and, with that crappy slider, I can never get back to the exact point I was at (and TCPMP doesn't play DRM files).
Other than that, I'm pretty happy with WM5, though I've thought about rolling back several times because I really like using my PDA for audiobooks. If I could just fix that problem I'd be completely satisfied.
If you haven't upgraded, give it a try, but be sure to follow the instructions on this board carefully so you don't brick your PDA. Then do those registry hacks right away and you should be happy with the results.
I just received my WM5 cd on Friday after 2 delays. It was supposed to ship on Dec 23rd. I installed the new OS yesterday with absolutely no troubles what so ever. I installed PB, iLauncher, Resco File Explorer, Hany Menu, Handy Switcher, Pocket Music and The Core Player. My axim is faster then ever before. Menus snap open and close quickly. My processor has not been stuck at 624. Only tweak I have done on my axim is the disable error reporting, I did that immediately so I dont know if there was an issue to begin with. I tested battery life yesterday. I have the 1800mah battery on my X50v. Used the core player to loop Dodgeball the movie at 40% brightness with volume at 50% and I got 4 hours and 25 mins of video play before my battery reached 6% remaining. I am now conducting a music play back test. Still after 24 hours of use, NO issues what so ever.

Bought the upgrade. Installed it. Had it installed for about 3 months hoping that Dell would release an upgrade got tired of the battery drain, the mysterious disappearance of my cf and sd cards and the overall lack of speed. Did the rom rollback and so far everything seems
to be working a lot better.
i'm sticking to wm2003se A05 for now. Just a quickie how much does wm5 improve on battery life? because thats the only real reason i can see myself upgrading to wm5

I bought the upgrade, but am still running 2003se/A03. X50v runs great with this combo, so I have no intention of using the WM5 CD. I guess I'm out $40!
I purchased the upgrade, and left it in place for 2 months, but finally couldn't live with the battery drain issues any longer. I just rolled back last night, and it's fun to use the PPC again...
I voted sticked to it, but I'm gonna roll back tonight. I'm getting memory errors all the time now, and I keep having to pull the battery out to get it to switch on.
