Has anyone noticed their system becoming very slow on write-operations after runningn the FileSys patch for multiple weeks? At first it was very fast, but having had v10 installed for weeks, I noticed write-operations took ages; even though I charge the Axim every night (turned ON) and allowed FileSys to run freely when on AC.
Oddly enough, removing the FileSysPatch has significantly improved the speed of the system. Storing a new appointment or contact in Pocket Informant is measurably and noticeably faster, as is overall system responsiveness.
I think this might be related to the fact that the Compaction thread is only invoked after a write operation, so nightly 'maintenance' might not be enough. Also, since it does a required task before writing data, throttling it down might make the write op take needlessly long.

You know, i'm beginning to think that there will be no solution to this problem. From what I've seen so far, I believe that something about the type of ROM used by x50v and 4700 NEEDS to be constantly managed constantly by filesys.exe. Maybe that's why they have to use different type of ROM in x51v. Dell and HP must have made the mistake of choosing Strataflash.

I had the v10 installed in the ppc. But I just updated.
There is a new patch out now for Dell X50v WM5 the A02.
I installed it and worked good. But I try to install the filesys.exe again and it say that it is not for this version. If anyone else Want the upgrade pm "Juraj" He a dell respon. and he gave it to me on my own risk.
So if anyone can help me make the filesys.exe patch it would be great. Please. Thanks.

Forget filesys.exe patch for a while -- it was a hack intended to help offset the problems with the original WM5 build. Give this new build a chance to hold up on its own before hitting it with hacks.
