I got a refund from Dell

I called Dell Customer Service today asking for a refund on the MS/Dell WM5 upgrade CD I purchased from Dell back in October 2005. I told them the product was defective because it never worked properly. Below is our chat log:

Question to Dell Customer Care: I am requesting a refund for the MS/Dell WM5 upgrade CD I purchased for my Dell Axim X50v because the product never worked properly.


01/07/2006 03:07:23PM Agent : "Thank you for contacting Dell Consumer Customer Care Chat. My name is XXXX XXXXXX. Please allow me a minute to review your question."

01/07/2006 03:07:33PM Agent : "I will be glad to assist you regarding this issue."

01/07/2006 03:07:34PM Agent ): "For verification purposes, may I have billing address and phone number?"

01/07/2006 03:09:13PM Agent : "Thank you for verifying the information."

01/07/2006 03:10:04PM Agent : "Are you referring to the order number XXXXXXXX7?"

01/07/2006 03:10:29PM "yes, that is correct."

01/07/2006 03:11:45PM Agent : "You can keep the item."

01/07/2006 03:12:01PM Agent : "I will issue you the full credit for the amount of 40.10."

01/07/2006 03:12:50PM : "Thank you very much. When can I expect it?

01/07/2006 03:14:04PM Agent : "You will receive the credit within 5-7 business days."

I did the 2003SE rollback a few weeks ago and I'm completely happy again with my X50v. I am especially happy because I got my money back from Dell. Now, how do I get rid of all the gray hair this whole exercise caused? :rolling:

you think they will give me credit on the upgrade cd I got with my new axim in the fall. well, i guess they did say it was free. Unfortunately, I didn't need anymore coasters.

I'm practicing my speech for dell chat, when a wm5se comes out and they want to charge me for the upgrade......

that is awesome - I bought my upgrade at the same time and here lately have been riding the fence as to whether I should go back to 2003se or push ahead. The rumors of the x50v rom keep me hoping. But the thought of getting a refund is tipping the scale to going back...

Ah crap, I am going to keep wm5 (shaking my fists as I scream into the air) CURSE YOU MICROSOFT, CURSE YOU!!!

I wouldn't even count of that upgrade. Sounds like dell is having too many problems with upgrades.
