Need Help for registry modification...

I have upgraded 50V to WM5. I need to modify the registry. But after soft reset the old registry keys and values come back, modifications dissapear... WM5 restores the original registry after the soft reset. How can get over that...???

I remember reading something similar to this somewhere. There is a registry key that needs to be set for other changes to take effect after a soft reset, or something along those lines.

Also remember something about it keeping the changes if your do a soft reset with a program rather than using the stylus in the reset hole.

Do a Google search and I'm sure you will find something.

Make the registary changes, wait about 5 seconds, power the device off, power it back on and then do the soft reset. I have found that if you don't exit the program you used to change the registary correctly and don't power down before the soft reset the registary change will not happen. Also some programs that change the registary don't exit correctly and the registary does not get changed.

I have made a google search. Here is the answer, and it works...

CTitanik wrote as;

in HKLM\System\ObjectStore is a reg key "RegistryType=1", which means Hive based registry.
When you set it to "RegistryType=0", which means FILE based registry, all changes you do in the registry will stay there also if you reboot with device's reset button...

BUT AFTER YOU CHANGE THIS VALUE, FIRST REBOOT HAS TO BE DONE WITH SOME SOFTWARE, NOT WITH THE RESET BUTTON.

Subsequent reboots can be done with reset button then.
