What does it mean when you say your SD/CF card is lost? All the data stored inside is gone? How would you get it back then?
Its when you Axim does not recognize that it has a CF and/or SD card installed on it. Nothing is lost from these cards its just that your unit does not see them or the contents they have. Before this 'trick' or the BT 'trick' you had to do a soft reset to have your unit recognize these cards, which of course was a bit pain in the neck and happened (for me at least) at least 6 times each day.
Just noticed that as long as you have the fake exchange server setup and schedule to Manually (Peak & Off-Peak Times). You will not experience a battery lost. Just tested it last night. :approve:
I will further test this and try to update my this post.

I still have the problem of my CF card vanishing.
I use my Axim as an MP3 player (during work outs) so I tend to leave it running all the time (I turn it off via the pwoer button, but the mp3 player is set to run when it turns back on). Interstingly, right before I lose the CF card my axim turns on for a split second and turns back off. I know this becuase my music will kick in pretty loud (because no headphones are attached) and then turn off and at that point it can't read the song anymore.
I find this strange that the Axim decides to turn itself on.
OMG Thank you so much I have a Axim x50v that I upgraded to Windows mobile 5.0 and ever since it has been a nightmare, I have had to reinstall all of my programs after reseting to factory default like 4 times in the last month. I hope this works. I love the new windows options and format, and I really don't want to go back to WM2003 but if this works and solves my woes maybe I won't have to . Thanks again
I did the Server fix when I first got my axim a few weeks back and never had the problem. Now that I started adding to my Today screen with Sptplus 3.0 and Pocket Diary, and other items my CF is dissappearing. When I tried to redo the server trick it was greyed out. If I did this initially do I have to do it again or just live with having to constantly Reset.
Thanks for the fix.
Applied when my axe was new.
Only soft reset was when I tried to use the Odyssey Client!doh
Won't do that again, no luck setting it up, but I've got other options.
I havent experienced any lost cards yet, fingers crossed.
...Peter

I havent encounter any disappearing CF & SF card since I apply the FS hack even I have a spb plus 3.0, What I experience is the battery drain issue. But after installing the spb plus 3.1 Beta over 3.0, everything is working fine.

I have my Axim X50 (A01) since early november and I never experience any problem with the SD card (kingston 256k), once I saw the WSOD, twice I have to turn on with a soft reset, and two times my battery drain completely.
The only problem was that the battery drains without any use, so I did de AS trick and solved the problem. Thanks
Just wanted to express my sincere thanks. I am somewhat of a newbie. I just sent back my X50 and purchased the X51v and yes, after a week have experienced the cf disappearing act, the screen not turning on. Have applied the Fake server and hoping my problems will soon be over (my husband told me to throw the darn thing away last nite). Anyway...THANKS to all the forums and postings I have certainly acquired far more knowledge than any Dell support rep could ever offer. I will continue to look for fixes and help with my Axim since I do so love the darn thing.
I am going on 3 days since the FS trick, I have A05, the problems appear to have vanished. Dell needs to enable Sync Schedule by default. I believe it was enabled in the older versions. I had an Axim X5 and it worked Great, that is why I bought the X51. Well now I think it works great too.
I scanned the entire thread and have two questions:
1. after subject tweak, one still has to "stop" AS to prevent battery drain when uncradeled, correct?
2. is there ANY way to stop auto sync when cradeled without terminating the connection? I think that it is synchronization every 5 minutes that is causing errors with Napster transfers to CF.
I've had a problem with my 51v not turning on. Called Dell hardware support twice - they are sending a replacement next week. I'll check to see if it's set to manual - that will be interesting. In the meantime, I've done the reset & am interested to see if it works. Thanks for the info. PS - Should I expect to receive a refurbished unit as replacement & is there a way to tell? Thanks Cathy
2. is there ANY way to stop auto sync when cradeled without terminating the connection?
This is what I did to disable the auto-sync between my notebook and Axim X51:
- Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners\211b1c54\Services\Synchronizatio n" key
- Change the "Continuously Update" value from "1" to "0"
