I did try as your instruction. However, when I placed my axim 51v on the cradle, it still turns on and sync automatically (not manually). Please advise. Thanks
Hi Aido, I tried to be as clear as possible when writing my little how-to above, but it seems it may not be clear enough? My apologies, allow me to try and explain a little more:
This how-to does not address Activesync loading when you dock the Axim with your PC. In most cases you would want to sync! But in some cases you wouldn't want it to in which case you could utilise a program called Activesync Toggle
However, this how-to does try to address your Axim loading Activesync and attempting to sync automatically when you are not connected to the docking station - and therefore stopping the power on/CF&SD cards problems.

I'm not going near the whole x50v WM5 upgrade situation with a 10 foot pole! :approve:

I have installed this fix and I am still confused about terminating the Activesync session. Is it always necessary to go to the "Running Programs List" to stop Activesync from running on the PPC once it is started intentionally or otherwise? Pockect Plus does not close it.
Everybody... don't be fooled by this mickey mouse solution. Dell just sent this clown to confuse us. The fact is that bluetooth still doesn't work and can't sync via wifi making x51v a seriously defective machine sold by Dell.

Lets all return our x51vs and demand a refund.
Very original note. Could you please help me? I'm in Russia and want refund, but unfortunately Dell doesn't provide neither return nor refund option. Got any solutions?
Oh, btw, please show me any device with WM5, which can sync via Wi-Fi.

Instead of responding in a retaliatory manner, I am simply going to use standard troll defensive measures and use smileys instead:

I couldn't agree more with the first poster. After I fixed active sync, I no longer had ANY problems with WM5 (except for the fact that vga wasn't working correctly)
Thanks for the summary g00nerz. I received my X51v for Christmas and had the WSOD and missing CF card problem the second day I had it (A01). I applied the ActiveSync fix from the original poster a couple of days later and have not has the problem since with A01, A04, or A06. I have never left Bluetooth turned on as suggested by others because I don't feel I need to since the problem seems to be solved.

Return YOUR X51v, demand a refund, buy an HP or other brand name PDA, write to the Better Business Bureau and complain about Dell, join another forum, and have some cheese.
Activesync-on-cradling is impossible to prevent. But not really a bad-thing, is it? Well.. ok it is a bad thing, I would prefer the axim to not be powered on all the time, but just turning off your display backlight (press and hold your power button for a while) will fix this.
Not really true... I believe you can put ASYNC in manual mode on your PC. At least thats what I did...
Found out that the user known as Invid was the first person to discover this trick - originally to stop Activesync hogging resources on x50v, but also found to fix a whole lot more on the x51v. Kudos to you dude.
