Icon14 Thank you!

"You may now put your Axim on Standby safe in the knowledge it will turn back on when you need it to. You can be sure that your CF and SD cards are no longer going to go walkabout. You can be safe in the knowledge that your battery should no longer lose it's charge. Etc etc.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I thank you....."

I can't say how happy you have made me!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!:)

New to the forums. Hi!

Tried out the fake server fix & so far it's worked perfectly.

My main issue was the dissappearing CF cards. Thought it was cause they were CF I not CF II but the Axim supports both.

Well done to all involved in finding the fix.

OK, I did the fake server trick, but I still can't see the CF card. Is there anything I need to do after deleting the fake server? do I need to soft reset my PDA? Thanks!

Yes do a soft reset and that should be all you have to do if you followed the instructions. It worked for me.

What options are you referring to?

I have had my X51v a couple of months and did the fake server trick pretty soon after I got it. However a couple of times recently when I put the Ax in its cradle I got a white screen and had to soft reset. Also after I reset this morning I got a message saying there was a problem with device.exe and then something about a problem with the wireless. I reset again and it seems to be okay for now. Was just wondering if something else is going on with ActiveSync. I am using AS 4.2 and have a 2Gig CF card.

I had the same issue plus more. Last January I updated my X51V to TOM A06 and applied the 'Fake Server Trick'. Since doing those two things I have had zero issues with my unit. These solved the white screen of death for me.

WM2003, I never have the CF card disappear.

WM5, even with the server trick AND closing Activesync religiously, I frequently lose the CF card OVERNIGHT.

I've found that if my wireless was enabled when I turned the unit off and I then place it in the cradle I get the WSOD. I then have to do a reset and make sure wireless is turned off before trying to sync again.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I've only had my X51 low for about a week now and it was doing the not-powering on thing at work today. I was in a panic, I thought I was going to have to send it back! Whew!

Actually there is a little freeware app called Activesync Toggle that will control whether your PDA syncs when put in the cradle or not. At least it works with AS 3.8 and earlier. I have a X50, so I don't use AS 4. Activesync Toggle installes on your PC to control AS from that end.
