when I go to to Activesync's Menu tap on Add Server Source., the option is greyed out and I cant edit it.
Take it off the cradle, soft reset, then manually open ActiveSync from the start menu on the PDA while it's still off the cradle. Add server source should no longer be dimmed.

It works. My Axim x50vseems to use less power than it did on Windows Mobile.

Thanx I set this up and it is just what the doctor ordered. I was having all sorts of issues and this should fix most of them.

Thank you!

I had done this with my X50v (multiple times, for other reasons, it needed hard-resets).
I wasn't sure until I read this post again today whether I needed to use it with my new X51v, which has A12 already.
I decided it is simple enough and it doesn't hurt anything. So I just applied the fix.

So far, so good. It is synching again now.

Another solution to minimize battery discharge:

MortSaver (freeware):
http://www.sto-helit.de/modules/edito/content.php?id=36

Download:
http://www.sto-helit.de/modules/wmpd...wcat.php?cid=7

If your Axim switches on automatically, you can configure MortSaver to switch it off again after eg. 60 seconds if you don't press a key.

What is the "Leave bluetooth enabled" trick?

Update-

I suddenly started having heavy overnight battery use with A12, doing the FST solved the problem (even though it appears it didn't change anything).

I read somewhere that the FST doesn't really work on A12. I guess this is not true?

Is this the the only way these problems are caused? Because i still get all of them, execpt the disappearing CF/SD Cards because i never had that. I think my cards are causing the problem because I only get those problems when the cards are in. I went one day without any cards and my axim was perfect, but when I had cards in, one I left my axim off for like at least 10 minutes, I had to soft reset to get it running again. I have a x50v with WM5, anyone else apply the trick and still has problems?

Last night, I applied the FST to my A12 (06200600) w/ WM5, soft reset and checked for ActiveSync in the 'Running Program'. Several soft on/off cycles and no ActiveSync was running. Great, so far so good.

Today, turned on the X51V three times. Check and found ActiveSync in the 'Running programs' and stopped it. And the cat came back each time, Ahhhhhh . . . .

Is this supposed to happens or am I doing something wrong?

Where can I check to see if it's still 'manual sync' for server without opening ActiveSync and doing the whole FST again? The option is greyed out since I deleted the bogus server after the FST operation.

I still had battery issues when I did the server trick. I would get a low battery message even though it was not low. I downgraded back to Win. Mobile 2003 SE, but same deal. I contacted Dell about the issue and they offered to send me an Axim x51v uprade for free. I accepted, but it will probably be refurbished. I hear that the refurbished PDA's are like the refurbished pc's. I hear refurbished Dell PDA's are like the new one.
