any way to disconnect automatic activesync when cradled?

Is there any way to disconnect the auto activesync when the 51v is cradled as I the screen keeps coming alive every 10mins or so, and even when it is on dim, it does take longer to charge up if active sync is on.

Have you tried unplugging the USB connection from the computer, and leaving the AC connected for charging?

I also tried this on an A12 x51v. It never worked. My x51v continues to sync at a regular intervals.

I retried it, leaving the fake server setup with both syncs set to Manual. AS on the desktop also says Manual for the schedule, and once connected, my x51v syncs no differently then before the changes. I connect and it automatically begins to sync and keeps syncing at periodic intervals. So maybe the fake server trick no longer works with AS 4.5 beta?

It worked for me!!

Thanks for the detailed information on this. I have a Axim x51v which I bought a few weeks back. I had seen the problems you described, but could not figure out a pattern or the cause. Now, after performing the steps to set Activesync to manual mode, I have been able to use my Axim without any problems over the past two days. No more soft resets now. Otherwise I had to do a soft reset on it more than once a day (depending how many times I pick up and use it).

The Axim is now very much usable. I use it heavily with my bluetooth keyboard & mouse along with VGA out to a 19" LCD monitor (in real VGA mode). It is a sort of replacement to a laptop computer (decided not to buy a laptop. I already have a desktop PC for heavy computing work).

does somebody try this to remove the AS4.x

To uninstall ActiveSync 4.x and reinstall a previous version of ActiveSync
on your computer---

1. Uninstall ActiveSync 4.x.
2. Go to Start -> Run and type:

%systemroot%\System32

Click Ok or enter.

3. Then manually delete the dynamic-link library Rapi.dll and ceutil.dll

4. Reinstall the previous version of ActiveSync.

I have a new 51V as well and tried this fix. It does make it so ActiveSync will not come on by itself, but I still have to manually turn it off in memory settings(or Magic button is quicker if you have it) each time I pull it from the cradle. If I forget, it will start up again and drain the battery.

I follow the instruction to have the problems fixed. However, I have new problem. Now activesync does not detect the device (X51v) no matter how I configure the activesync on PC and PDA. The connection wizard shows that USB connected, but does not detect any device. Can anyone tell me how to address this issue? thanks.

I do not want to read. 30 pages.

Is it safe?
What if I do not want to use Sync (I transfer files to SD flash directly) can I simply disable it?

Thank you very much, g00nerz, for your hint. The fix worked in my Axim 51v A06 for a while, all problems desapeared, but now it freezes when I insert the 4 Mb Compact Flash. I've tried the fix many other times, sometimes it works, but now it has freezed completely with the CF (this is not the white screen of death, the blue screen is there, but nothing works). The compact card is OK, I've tested it in a card reader. Finnaly, the freezing starts when music from the compact flash is playing for more than 10 minutes. Thanks for a help.

Hi guys,

:approve: Glad this is still working for at least some people. I've actually sold my x51v now, and have since purchased a T-Mobile Vario II (HTC TyTN) so cannot really help any further. I do come back and check out aximsite quite often though.

I note some people of late having problems - the FST has always been a little hit and miss like that. Please fully read and understand the original posts to make sure you know exactly what the FST actually fixes.

I personally stuck with the FST with A12 until I sold it and still had no problems at all. I guess it works for some people and not for others.

All the best chaps :)
