Important - Possible to attach Freehand note to Appointment?
In the documentation for the Axim, it says that a written (freehand) note can be attached to an appointment in the note area. However, I can't see how to do that -- all it allows me to do is put a text note in there.
So, if someone can tell me yes it can do it or no it can't it will save me tons of time.
OK, I haven't received any information that in Pocket Outlook now that written (freehand) notes can be added to an appointment. This is _very_ disappointing to me because that is one of the main reasons I want to move to Pocket PC.
In the past, this was possible. When editing an apointment, there were two icons at the bottom. The first was for adding a voice recording, and the second was a pen for adding freehand written notes.
I am pulling my hair out trying to find if this has been a feature that they removed. Google searches only verify that in the past written notes could be added -- they say nothing about now.
Here's some text from a Google search:
Writing on the Screen
In any program that accepts writing, such as the Notes program, and in the Notes tab in Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks, you can
use your stylus to write directly on the screen. Write

Can't you just change your input method from keyboard to say block recognizer. I'll look on my Jasjar it has WM5 on it. BRB Update: The little pen is gone in WM5. Try Transcriber instead.

Yes,the little pen is gone. I dont thing there is a way to write with transcriber but not have it attempt character recognition. I want to preserve free-hand writing similar to what can be done in stand-alone Notes. If this has been removed from PPC land then I'm sending it back and sticking with the Palm for a while more.
Funny -- you can still voice record in an appointment's notes, but you can't draw or write freehand anymore -- they took one of the best features away.

Hey, is it just my imagination or does WM5 Notes on A06 now display drawing in VGA rather than pixel doubled? I never tried this after A04, I don't think, but I seem to recall notes or pocket word (though I don't see how to draw at all on pocketword now) or something being all pixelated when I was drawing stuff.
No harm in that Journey. Your next PALM device will probably be running WM6 (god help us all,) :)

I'm merging your Missing Feature thread with this one. The answer will still be the same.

this actually reminds me of a really useful program back in the Newton days where one can create links between items in PIM. Say linking a note from the note app to an appointment in the Calender. Or links between notes. so one can easily navigate through related information.
Too bad the PIM modules in the ppc are not that well integrated into a common storage or linking would be a lot easier to implement
I know this is highly improbable, but if Steve Jobs wanted to hit one more home run in his lifetime that would leave a tremendous legacy, developing a killer PDA correctly from the ground up would be it. Maybe he could take a page out of MS's book and leverage the Ipod (he certainly can't leverage the Apple OS -- that time has come and gone). But right now he has huge market momentum, he can see what works and what doesn't work with the Palm and Pocket PC platforms, and the Ipod fits into one part of why people like PDA's -- the media part.
They sat down at the drawing board and developed Macintosh. They developed Ipod. Steve Jobs developed Next. They have developed incredibly complex products. An Ipod / PDA, if done correctly, could be a grand slam.

How stupid that you can't freehand in PIM. I might never upgrade from 2003, but it's nice to know PI will still allow it. Can you still freehand in Pocket Word? Maybe a cut-and-paste is still possible.
jli: Birdsoft's Ulti-Planner, although not as robust as PI, allows linking of appointments, notes, contacts. It's mostly an overlay of the standard PIMs that adds some enhanced views, linking, and a few other features. I don't think it will solve the freehand issue though.
I well look it up soon. If it allows linking between notes and appointments or other items in the PIM. Then ink in the appointment is less of a problem then since I can link the appointment to the notes written in the note app in ink.
Thanks for the tip. And I thought it was not possible in Pocket PC ,silly me!
