Question Damaged Dell Axim X51v Software CD... Help!

Can anyone help?

Let me first say that I am NOT trying to pirate or illegally attain any software! I DO own an Axim X51v that I purchased directly from DELL.CA last year.

I finnished the A06 ROM upgrade yesterday and am in the process of reinstalling the last of my apps... the DELL apps from the DELL Software CD.
My problem is that the CD that came with my Axim got damaged (broken actually) last night. I've looked on the DELL Support website and cannot find any of the apps on the CD that I can download.

I'm sure that I can BUY a replacement CD from Dell (don't really want to spend any $$$), but I was hoping that someone may have an image of the CD that they can send me?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I'd suggest first contacting Dell and see what they can do.

You need to contact Dell for replacement media.

I'm having the same problem. I lost my CD and contacted Dell's support center to get a replacement. As ususal, they deferred me to another department. Ahhhhhhhh, the run-around. Now I have a phone number to call and ORDER, yes ORDER a new disk. You'd think that after paying a few hundred for a CD, they'd send you a new one...how difficult can this be?

The 2 apps that the CD provides are Outlook 2002 a.k.a. Outlook XP and Active Sync. You can download AS at

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync41.mspx

If you already have MS Office you can use the version of Outlook that comes with Office. I'm using Outlook 2000 and everything works great.

The main problem is the Outlook software in that CD cause each serial is suppose to be use in one computer only ( u need to activate the product)that's why they charge u for another license

After A06 upgrade, activesync has all the information to reload my applications without the need for software CD. ActiveSync is on the PC, Outlook is on the PC and should not need to be reloaded because of a Rom FLASH.

Those aren't the only two apps on the CD.
They may be the only two for the PC, but there are many for the PPC, which is probably what they need again after a hard reset.

Why can't someone jsut image the cd for him and throw it up on a site? i understand We do not Pirate here but as long as he uses his own CD key for outlook he shouldn't have any problems with legality. All the otehr software checks for the x51v before installing other than the freeware crap.

I'm against piracy in all forms .. but from what I can remember the licence code for Outlook is not in the CDROM so as long as we dont give him the code the rest is upto him...

I'm happy to do this, but it'll take me a little while to FTP it up to my site...

Liquid3d can you PM me and we'll talk off-list

This is exactly why I need the CD. I've done the A06 upgrade and my system is pretty much restored, minus these addional apps. Outlook and Active Sync are installed and operational.

Guys I've searched and searched but the CDROM looks like it's been consigned to the black hole that is my loft.. I'm afraid once stuff goes up there it's never going to be found until I move house when it'll promptly be lost forever...

Be ready for some BS when you ask Dell to send you another CD. When I got my Axim x51v (US/English version) they sent my a CD for a Axim x50/Spanish edition. I called to get the proper cd, and after about 10 minutes on the phone (the CS rep had to ask his manager to verify that I was suppose to get the x51v cd), they agreed to send me a replacement. After about a week, Airborne delivered my CD... which turned out to be some GPS software... I called Dell again, and had to setup an RMS. I finally got the right CD about 3 weeks after I got my Axim...

Bottom line, you have to upgrade AS to 4.1 anyways (CD version is 4.0), and if you have any version of Outlook, and don't care for the crap shareware that they include, it may not be worth the hassle. I only use resco's Photo Viewer and Toy Golf off the CD anyways...
