Has anyone ever compared X50v to X51v for performance?

Hi,

Has anyone here ever compared the Axim X50v to the X51v for CPU and graphics performance benchmarks? Eventhough they use the same components with some hardware changes i.e. removal of spare backup batt, there is a change in the way the 51v uses its memory vs the 50v.

Anyone here have both the 50v and 51v to run some comparisons? I'm guessing a stock 50v with latest ROM will outcompete a stock 51v with latest ROM running the same application.

Let me know if its otherwise. If there is already a link, please send me the link. I would be interested to know.

Thanks.

I have both, and noticed no difference in use / times, however I have not done a technical benchmark, nor would I want to.. as there is really no difference except for the way memory is used and the amount of memory in persistant storage.

No, but if u leave the original os on each, the x50v would probly perform better, becuase there are less bugs in its os, and the os is less advanced.

The BIS memory is cached on 51v BIS to make it faster according to an article I read awhile back (still searching for that article but do not remember which link took me to that article) to make it faster. Just curious if this was true since BIS has a fixed number of writes on the BIS.

Found it... the comparison of a X50v with X51v link is here -> http://tinyurl.com/eyhvk

It indicates that using Spb Benchmark Index v1.6, that the Axim X50v is quicker in CPU and File System Index but slower in ActiveSync than the X51v probably due to the improvements in AS 4.x.

Also, following the thread, someone indicates that "...part of the WM5 OS is copied to RAM from where it's executed, that explains why the end users does not get 64 MB of RAM free...".

I knew I remembered reading it somewhere. Just an interesting item to note for X50v users.

Cheers.

I myself have the 50v and a friend of mine has the 51v. His one seems to be faster in using ActiveSync, installing and copying, and also in regular use with tapping menus and starting programs.
