First PIE connection S-L-O-W (about 2 minutes), then normal browsing speed

Hello,

After turning on the WLAN utility, I open PIE, but unable to connect to any page for the first 2 minutes or so. After this initial frustration, surfing is regular speed. What gives?

This is irritating because there is no such thing as checking on something "quickly" on the internet because there is a 2 minute delay before anything comes up. It will just keep saying: "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings."

No matter how I seem to configure it, I can't get rid of the initial lag.

I'm using an Axim x50v, 7.56 MB storage free mem and 19.56 MB free Program mem. The powersave is turned off.

Any suggestions?

Thanks much!

RMB

My x50v seems to shake hands with some wireless routers faster than others; what do you use for wireless network hardware?

daddybfree- it doesn't seem to matter where I try, which wireless point. It is slow at a friends house, at university, wherever. But just the first actual connecting, then surfing normal speed.

Frenchy- I'm not trying to set up a home wifi network, nor do any of the FAQs seem to hit this issue on the head.

Does it connect right away but you can't surf or is it taking that long to actually connect? Also, is Odyssey enabled? If Odyssey is enabled and you don't actually use it, open it and exit from the program and try again.
