Reinstalled Windows XP, need to sync to AXIM W/O creating new user

Hey, I recently re-installed Windows XP (erasing my entire hardrive) and when I reinsalled Outlook and my Axim it made me create a new user. Now I cant sync new contacts etc.... to my Axim. How can I have my old User on this NEW computer?

If I understand you correctly when you say "User" are you referring to a new ActiveSync connexion?

If so this shouldn't be an issue; I did a clean install and reinstalled ActiveSync and it accepted my Ax with its existing name and details as a new device - I had to go through creating a new connexion in AS because as far as XP is concerned this is a new PC and everything you haven't done before with this install is a new activity. Then all you should have to do is tweak the AS settings to meet your requirements, mine are set for the AX to replace what is on the PC for existing files when it Syncs and you should be good to go.

If I've missed the point - explain a bit further and I'll try to help but there are wiser heads on this site than mine who can help also.

Alastair is correct; you should just allow the new partnership to be created. After that, your data from your Axim will be transferred to Outlook on your PC. If you are afraid of losing data, do a backup of your Axim before syncing.
