The setup of my new X51v

I have completed the initial setup of my new X51v. As of this moment, without shopping and searching for more, I have what my mind said I wanted for my new tool.

Out of the box, I upgraded to A06 after a successful (with a few hard resets) installation of Activesync 4.1. I apllied the fake server hack for Activesync based upon all the reading in these forums. I sunced for the 1st time for a test, and all my contacts/etc.

Today, I setup the software I wanted:
Pocket Breeze
iLauncher
Agenda Fusion
Resco Explorer
Resco Picture Viewer
eWallet
ListPro
Celeris Virtual Pool
PDAmill GameBox Asia
PDAmill Gamebox Gems
PDAmill Gamebox Solitare
Pocket Quicken
Adobe Reader 2.0
pcShutXP
Valksoft True Toolbar

I found a nice VGA flying eagle theme (I love eagles).

All of my PIM, Quicken, and files are synced. I had a couple of soft resets along the way, but I was used to those with my X5 so I honestly didn't pay attention to them.

I popped in my Kingston 2GB CF card and my Sandisk 1GB SD card. I copied 2 movies (Jurassic Park and The Game) onto the CF card with Resco Explorer from the CF card that was in the X5 and tested playback. Here's where I need to study some more. The movies that played back "almost" full screen on the X5 are REAL small on the X51v. I need to find the right software to convert DVDs/movies on my computer for playback on the X51v.

I turned on wifi and in no time was surfing the net.

Now I'm just going to tweak the today screen look of iLauncher and PocketBreeze.

Yes it's only day 1, but regardless of the hard/soft resets I've already encountered, I'm happy.

You might want to try TCPMP for playing movies. That's what I use and my 320x240 movies play full screen on the X51V.

Also, I use virtualdub to reencode movies for the handheld. I don't have much luck with DVDs though. I get sync issues.

ANother vote for TCPMP it's great.
I ripped a DVD using dvddecrypter, then encoded using Gordian Knot, to 450mb, as detailed in a post here somewhere, and the movie looks great, no sync issues at all.

It certainly appears that TCPMP is a viable solution. And it also appears they are ready to roll out V1.0 of a FREE closed source player.
