Well, my X51v is a month old and it's running great. That's thanks in part to the information on this board
It's easy to concentrate on the negatives and the flurry of critical posts after A06 appeared could only have served to worry new owners about their purchase.
By following the instructions and tutorials I now have a device that:
After an instant power-on quickly makes a secure connection to my wireless router, and streams a radio station in the background while web browsing and downloading e-mails. One site happened to have a powerpoint presentation which WM5 happily displayed.
Stores hours of DVD on a 2GB card and plays them back on the free TCPMP with excellent picture and sound quality - impressing all my colleagues. Or plays audio or video files stored on my PC.
Plays 3D games in VGA.
Manages appointments and tasks; edits Word documents and spreadsheets; views photos and e-books; etc, etc.
How many other devices do all that, especially at the price of £250?
The X50V with 2003SE can do all that plus a more robust bluetooth functionality. Even my 3 year old Ipaq can do that except for VGA and ppt presentations, but makes up for it by having a more functional bluetooth stack. Anyway glad to know you are happy with your purchase.

aawwww come on let the guy have his moment :approve:
Ignore all the negativity around here! You have a great tool/toy and you know it. People don't post when they're not having a problem, so you see mostly negative statements. Luckily, I didn't start reading this board until my Axim X51 was on its way or I might not have ordered it. My only slight disappoinment is that I bought the X51 and not the X51v, but I have seen the VGA screen and the type and icons are slightly small for my taste. For what I use my Ax for, QVGA works like a charm! I love my Ax, and you will too!

I've been reading about the X51v problems for months and months, and I still ordered one. I love it.
The one real flaw, the bluetooth stack, is unimportant to me. The other "issues" for which I chalk up to being a computer are issues I can deal with.
To me, "positive" isn't the key word here, although I am positive. Patient is the key with ANY computer. I am patient with computers. I can remember spending 15 or so hours rebuilding my daughters laptop thanks to a virus. Yes I was aggravated, but in the end I was happy because I got it to work.
The X51v is replacing my right-hand man, the X5. I loved that, and I love the X51v even more.
Every so often I do a rebuild on my X50V... and becuase I've learnt stuff from the last rebuild it gets better each time.
For any PDA/Computer there is a learning curve.... as Metalman says. :)

*Agree* have had no serious problems with my x51v. Only bluetooth usage I have is accessing the internet via my Sony Ericsson K750i cell phone, and this works just fine.
I'm also programming some .net compact framework applications and find the x51v just fine as a test platform.
