If you've got some time and are willing to dedicate a few hours for upgrading/tweaking/installing apps, I would go for it. FOLLOW THIS THREAD!

The most important tweak on the page is the active sync one.

I'm not surprised. After all of the bugs so far, who could blame them?

It is still available here in the UK.
Not sure if this link will work or not:

http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna...072&first=true

If not, search around the UK site and you'll get it.
In fact at the moment they are doing cash off accessories, so it's only £16.15 as opposed to the usual £19.

We placed an order Monday afternoon of this week and our two copies arrived this morning - we were hoping that the new ROM update for the X50 running WM5 would be available by the time our upgrades arrived but alas no.
Wonder why the US site has pulled the upgrade but the UK hasn't.

Well Dell UK will not sell to the us, I have to go through the us sight.
So maybe Dell will offer the upgrade again, If not it won't be the first time Dell has let me down!

The reason it's not longer available is because of the numerous issues with it currently. By "upgrading" to WM5, you're literally turning your PDA into something you are forced to tweak and tune just to get it to run 1/10th as good as WM2003SE. That's not even considering the huge battery drain issue that may or may not be fixed with some of these tweaks.

Stay away from WM5 until they issue a working patch if you count on your PDA to be ready when you need it.

I'm kicking myself for installing the WM5 upgrade that Dell mailed me:bang:. WM5 has rendered my x50v virtually useless, and it's affecting my job(Outlook appointment reminders not coming up, GPS/Mapopolis software malfunctioning so I can't find my way to these appointments, etc.) I've been hoping against hope they would get a patch out soon, but it doesn't look like it's forthcoming.

What tools do I need to revert to WM2003SE, and what are the steps to install it? I'm sure any advice from you or others would be most welcome by anyone in my predicament. Thanks!

The Dell support guy told me that their Axim calls shot through the roof the minute they shipped WM5. So, I won't be surprised to hear that Dell pulled the upgrade out of their site.

Tech calls cost Dell $$ - so it's cheaper to NOT sell the "upgrade" and save on the support calls, rather than sell it, and get a bloodbath on the calls and future lawsuites! :o
