When I had my X5, I would come to work and put it in the cradle all day, except for the times I took it with me at lunch or to the bathroom to play games while "doing my thing".
I plan on doing the same thing with my nex X51v once my extra cradle arrives from Dell. I had no problems with the X5 display or battery doing this, so I'm "assuming" this will not be a problem with my new Ax.
I keep mine on me most of the time. I'm often running around the office, taking care of different projects, and use some of the programs I have on there to help me time experiments and record notes.

I keep my Ax cradled pretty much all day when im at work. With pocket controller, i don't pick it up too often to make entries etc etc. I take it with me at night and home for the weekends..and almost never cradle it during that time.

Except for meetings and occasional "showing off", mine(X50 mid) stays in the cradle all day at work.No problems with battery or backlight and it is over a year old. Mine gets more of a workout at home and on the road during business trips and vacations. Using Skype, GPS, Data bases, and all the Outlook functions, it stays busy. So it rests up during the day while I work! :approve: Sometimes I sneak in a part of a movie at work, but don't tell anyone. :hide:
I leave my x50v on at least 6 hrs. a day, had it for about a year. The screen is still good as new. but does anyone know the life of expectancy on x50v back light. It must be like a light bulb, at sometime it will burn out, and if it does burn out, is there a fix for it.
I keep mine in the cradel all day with no problems at this time. I take it out to go out of the office, go to meetings and take it home and use the heck out of it in the evenings and on weekends.
During week days I only take my x50v out of the cradle at 1 o'clock when I go home to eat and then again at 7 pm when I leave for the day. On my house it never touches a charger or cradle...

Likewise my X50v is in the cradle all day, I also use Soti Pocket Controller to make entries in my calendar or do searches in the database, then at night it comes home with me where it syncs with my desktop at home. Also running Pocket Controller there.
When I travel or go to town the Axim is in my vest pocket where I use it for addresses, phone numbers, mp3, movies, etc.
I guess this makes it a traveling database since its always with me, even when I'm installing equipment on my vehicle or hot tub or biking or snowshoeing in the woods.
Its my brain, just need a WiFi brain port to make it complete.
Take Care,
Locutus

When I am at my desk the X50V is on and cosntanly syncing. I take it with me to most meetings but other than that it is sitting there on and doing its thing. My X5 was set up the same way. I have never had an issue with either unit. When my X51V gets here I expect it to follow its forefathers in use and performance.

I set my backlight to go off after 5 mins in the cradle - hoping that it will make the backlight last a bit longer. I don't recall ever seeing a PDA (knock on wood) ever blowing its backlight. My original iPaq is still going strong - and it's 5 years old. :approve:
I put it in the vradle when I'm in my office, but with a lot of meetings and such, it is out of the cradle most of the time. Most say it is good to keep it in the cradle as much as possible.
I have seen a PDA with a blown backligt. Of course, I don't know if it was because it was kept on too long or was cradled too often. It was an HP and the person had to order a new screen to fix it. I'm willing to bet that cradle time wasn't an issue. I keep mine on and in the cradle when I am at my computer. The lights are LCD. By the time it 'blows' your Axim will be an artifact that your great-grand children laugh about.

I ususlly connect it long enough to sync it up with my PC, then disconnect. If it needs charged, I leave it in the cradle longer. BTW, I don't keep my cradle @ work, I use a BoxWave MiniSync :)
