Go to your system to check. Don't trust the box. My box also said A01, but my X51v is comes with A06.

The CD say ActiveSync 4.0. I bet it is old too.

Don't you worry - my box says A01 as well which I beleive is hardware version??? Based on info here yours will more than likely have A06 ROM.
Download and install ActiveSync 4.1 from Microsoft instead of using 4.0 on the CD.
boynepreacher, glad to hear you are happy with X51v BT functionality. I am more interested in OBEX file transfer (which works very well on my X50) and A2DP both of which are sorely misssing in MS stack.

I'm really new to PPC & Bluetooth so I can't comment or really know what you are talking about. The only thing I will use BT for is Activesync to my work PC and I would like to get a BT headset so I can skype my brother who is a missionary in Ukraine away from my home network. I am interested in learning more.

Just got my X51V today and they had version 06 preinstalled and ActiveSync 4.1 on the disk.

Ordered an X51v to replace the current X50 taking advantage of Dell Canada's recent C$399 deal. I tried using the search but couldn't find answers to some of my questions. Can someone please confirm the following on very recently shipped units:
1. Is ROM version A06 pre-installed?
2. What version of ActiveSync (4.0 or 4.1) and Microsoft Outlook is included on Getting Started CD?
3. What other software are included in the Getting Started CD? Of those which ones are full versions?
I am sure I will have tons of other questions when I have the unit in hand.
Thanks in advance.

Were these on the CD or already installed?

06 is preinstalled. ActiveSync is on the Cd and comes installed on the x51v along with the 06 ROMS.

My X51v should arrive this Friday. I found the Active Sync trick from the sticky thread. What is the security trick that everyone is talking about and where is the instruction to do it? Also, are there any other tricks that I need? Thanks

They are on the CD. Navigate to \EXTRAS folder and you will see whole bunch of sub-folders with 3rd party software. Only the ones mentioned above are full versions; all others are trials.

You can try asking Dell Support giving your unit's service tag. My packing slip says the CD's product code NC197 while Dell support site quotes part # PC125. But I have a feeling they will charge you substantially even if they will send you one because each CD has a licensed copy of Outlook 2002 with product key.
