Newer X51Vs: ROM version & Getting Started CD?
I have been reading Aximsite for sometime now and thanks to everyone here I have learned so much about Axim X50/51 series and PPCs in general.
Ordered an X51v to replace the current X50 taking advantage of Dell Canada's recent C$399 deal. I tried using the search but couldn't find answers to some of my questions. Can someone please confirm the following on very recently shipped units:
1. Is ROM version A06 pre-installed?
2. What version of ActiveSync (4.0 or 4.1) and Microsoft Outlook is included on Getting Started CD?
3. What other software are included in the Getting Started CD? Of those which ones are full versions?
I am sure I will have tons of other questions when I have the unit in hand.
Thanks in advance.

I have a friend who recently received (1/10/06) her x51v with A01 on it and 4.0. I'm not sur what yours will have.
I don't believe they give you any full versions of the 3rd party software.....but don't quote me on it.

Received *my* X51v Today
I just received my X51v today (finally ordered it Tuesday) - it came with the A01 ROM pre-installed and the revision A00 CD. (which would lead me to assume it's got ActiveSync 4.0 on it )
I immediately flashed it to A06 and bumped up to AS 4.1.4841.

Wow! Those were real fast responses. Thanks very much tlmeekins and crowtc. This is what I like most about Aximsite - everyone is extremely helpful.
I guess I have to be prepared for flashing A06 and install AS 4.1. The reason I asked about 3rd party software full versions was I remember reading about them somewhere else. My X50 CD had the full version of Resco Photo Viewer but that was over an year ago.

I got mine with A01 when A04 was available. Others have also reported that their new x51v's were also shipping with A01

A01 is the only official supported software from Dell. All other versions are issued as "take your own risk" basis.

The_Penguin, glad to know there's at least one recent X51v came with A06 pre-loaded especially that yours was a Canadian order.
Do you know which version of desktop MS Outlook (2002 or 2003) was included on your CD?
Marcello, good to know Resco Photo Viewer full version is still included.

My X51v arrived this morning with A06 pre-loaded after waiting almost 2 weeks. :approve: I guess all the newer units ship with A06.
Did AS fake server and disabled security prompt with SetSecurity.exe thanks to advice from Aximsite members.
Already installed Resco Photo Viewer (full version) from Dell CD and MS Pocket Streets 2005 (latter to my surprise :) :exc: ).
So far so good :approve:

Got my X51 a couple of weeks ago A06 installed with Active sync 4.0 upgraded to 4.1. Did the security and Activesync tricks as advised on this site. Axim works great. I can even Activesync with bluetooth with no problems. The only thing I've noticed is that in order to AS with bluetooth I have to turn of WiFi. Kind of wierd but it works well and I love my Axim.

I just got my X51v few hrs ago. The box say REV A01. Oh man, is it hard to flash?
The CD say ActiveSync 4.0. I bet it is old too.
