I love my dell, but when the new dualcore cPC come out and the price drops a little I'm gettin' one.... I already have a couple of BT headsets and don't mind at all looking like I belong on a starship!!
I'm going through the pains of deciding which way to go with the pda/phone. I'm leaning towards sticking with the two device setup, for a few reasons. I don't want my phone to be out of juice because i'm using the applications all the time, and second I like the size of the PDA screen over the phone. :rolling: The instant connectivity of something like the BB is very attractive tho...argh
If this is the end of the line for the Axim then I don't see why Dell would bother to improve their PDA. Looks like the X51 is going to be left with a crippled bluetooth stack.
How do you know he/she was the 6th member to join?
Their member number is 6. Although this is not the first iteration of Aximsite, so they're user number 6 but that's since the last time that everyone had to re-register. :)

I completely agree with what you say; the PDA will always be in need/want, so long as it's not economically feasable for the average guy to own an all in one device... I just recently switched from Sprint to Cingular, because they have better coverage in an area i'm relocating to... i'd hate to think I'd have to shell out another $300-$600 for a PDA (that has a cpu half the speed & ROM, and a smaller screen), just to use the device... Besides, I'd prefer to keep my phone seperate... just as I don't ALWAYS carry my axim with me, I don't want to be forced to, for lack of another medium of communication
.
And That is assuming we believe C... oh, pardon me ... Solitare. ;)
Not sure who or what you mean by "C" but I am no one's doppel. Sure I don't post much but I've been here since the start my name is Ed and I've attended meetings for SMUGPPC (pocket pc users group in south east Michigan) with Ted Whitely. Kindly go play your alternative id games with someone else.

Ok, I will kindly go play my alternative id games with someone else, although you may understand my suspicion, don't you...
But if I offended you in any way I do, kindly (of course), appologize.
Edit: although I do stick to my original statement regardless your id.
I don't doubt anyone's identity, but I do doubt the value in the original statement. Why would Dell make such an announcement? "Lets give our special customers inside info so they won't buy our PDAs!"
Our corporate rep at Dell never tells us anything like that. News from them is rare, and has only been about new product announcements. I suspect the statement is more of an opinion from a buyer.

I'm going to enjoy riding the PDA wave as long as it lasts. It may be 10 more years and it may end next year. One thing's for sure: nothing lasts forever--especially in the tech world. I imagine by the time the PDA bites the dust, there will be much better toys to have and no will miss them anyways.
I bought an X51 after trialling an iMate converged device for a few months. Two reasons: 1. the iMate isn't comfortable up against your ear as a telephone; and 2. Mobile phones come and go a lot faster than PDAs - and they aren't cheap.
