X50 Won't Boot Power+Reset as well..

Just out of the blue my X50 won't boot, the indicator stops at the half way point. I have to remove the battery to reset. I then get a memory error message and it asks my to do a hard reset but then the same thing happens.

X50 WinMobile-5

PS: Just got off the phone with Dell and they are sending a replacement tomorrow, I mentioned the problems with WinMobile 5 and she told me it's Microsoft's fault. ( Talk about not taking responsibility )

Maybe the firmware (OS) is corrupted or something.

and yes, someone has to take responsibility for WM5.

Got the replacement from Dell, fast customer service. Now I'm really paranoid about this new O/S, I think I'll leave my X50 stock for a while. It would be a shame to brick one of these if it weren't under warranty.

For the record reloading the image from your SD card should solve this problem ( it did for me and several others)

Like you I'm now waiting before I try the update again!

I had the same problem in the past. Won't power on. Removed the battery, reinserted, and it won't boot past 95%. I tried hard resetting it a number of times, nothing. I was scared shitless.

Last thing I tried, put it in the cradle, disconnect usb from PC, hard reset, and leave it. I come back later in 20-30 mins and its alive again. All you have to do it power it, then leave it while its trying to boot. It may look like its hung, but its not. I think it has to do with the filesys/compaction thingy that supposedly takes 15 mins to go entirely through the "defrag" the ROM.

That's interesting, this O/S is full of suprises. I would have liked to try that solution but to late now. Dell did handle the exchange brilliantly however and for that I'll give them a A+
