I did the same two days ago. I did not experience that many roblems with WM5, but even after tweaking it never was quite as fast as WM2003SE. The horrible big slowdowns were solved with the filesys patch (making the Axim quite snappy), but opening an appointment in Pocket Informant for instance always took 4-5 seconds on WM5. On 2003SE, it's pretty much instantaneous. I use my x50v in a clinical setting and the little delays (coupled with WM5's glitches eg. the increased RAM usage and BT stack) were starting to annoy me to no end. I also experienced worse battery life under WM5.

I tried to stick with it as I do prefer the look and Persistant Storage of WM5, but overall WM2003SE just works much, much better when using the Axim professionally. I feel like I have a new PDA again.

My WM5 lasted about one week. During this time it ran (almost) perfectly and I wondered what the fuss was about. Then suddenly it hard reset itself, without actuall wiping my data (it was like windows had just been re-installed), and it was at this point where I thought -wooaa boy!. Did immediate restore to WM2003SE and the world is well again.

Couldn't see anything in WM2005 to make it worthwhile or essential anyway. The BT stack is certainly crap. Liked the lots of available ram, but could see no other reason to "need" the upgrade.

Happy with SE until they release a stable patch and might upgrade at that point. Otherwise it does everything I need it to (or it will when that pesky 5gb MD arrives).

I downgraded up about a week after the update came out. I don't have the time, patience, or inclination that many on this forum have demonstrated. I really like my X50v and use it daily. WM5 has some good features that I want. Especially the enhances Office apps and the improved media sync features. But I couldn't live with the battery drainage, crippled bluetooth, and poor performance. I will gladly upgrade when those are fixed. Until then, I still have my original, very cool X50.
