Original Registry

WHERE TO GET ORIGINAL REGISTRY FOR AXIM X51V?
I had the incorrect information that after Hard Reset all PPCs Registry comes back to the initial status and having received the new toy [X51V + Holux GPSlim 236 + ..] at the beginning freely installed/played with different programs.
It was terminated by : some standard programs, freely working early now don't function.
After Hard Reset and after ROM updating from ROM A01 (08250500) to A06 (12190500). The status of mine PPC has improved, but not enough. I assume, that its Registry have incorrect keys, recordings (or may be something is removed ...). I live enough far from the USA, here is not DELL representation, and dealers refuse to serve the devices bought abroad!

HOW TO DO SYSTEM BACKUP?
I hope, what earlier or later I will solve Registry problems but how to not repeat those mistakes in future?
Early for these purposes ActiveSync was used successfully. I was afflicted, having read in ActiveSync HELP following: Backing up and restoring information is available only for... Windows Mobile software for Pocket PC 2003 and earlier.
What to use for system data preservation?

Um ... the registry doesn't get reset upon a hard reset? Is this something new?

Seriously, not being a smartas$$ ... I'm just wondering.

WOW! --- I had no idea. So what happens when you do a hard reset then? I was under the impression that it cleared everything back to factory default.

Also is this all pocket pc's or just WM5?

:exc: LOTS of false information in this thread!

A hard-reset returns your device to its original state, and any changes you made to the system will be gone. This includes the registry. In WM5, there may be some whacko case where something remained, it would DEFINATELY be gone after re-installing/updating the ROM.

Anyone who is seeing other results is either confused about what a hard reset is, or is restoring from a backup after the reset.

Here is the info from the horses, eh, mouth:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/its.../sitmob_5.mspx

"There is a “hard” and “soft” reset procedure for each device. The soft reset is equivalent to a system reboot and does not erase the device configuration and applications. The hard reset erases all customer installed applications and configuration. The hard reset procedure is permanent, and it is used to return the device to its default state. The default state is the original configuration found when the device was used for the first time. Refer to the manual provided with the device for information on how to perform a hard and soft reset."

End of discussion! :approve:

My thoughts exactly!
I'd be interested in hearing some details as to some registry setting that remained after a hard reset. Colour me skeptical :)
